although the season doesn't have me glued to my sit in suspense like the first one did it retains its brainy appeal and is a fun watch

there's especially some good character development this season for Bernard, Maeve and Native Americans -- you waiting for the season to end to binge it?

      Hey Chris :}

Ah, I'm glad it all worked out, very annoying and unprofessional that he left it so last minute though.

I've been doing ok, busy with university work as always, a lot to do and so little time. Posting here instead of doing work probably doesn't help but to be fair I'm waiting for a friend to show up to mine so we can study together. productive vibes ! :skysun

      Sorry for late reply.

Oh, Chris. I am sorry to hear that. Is it worth taking it further, going to a union etc and/or lodging a formal complaint or is it not worth the hassle ? I'm glad it's all worked out in the end though and you've got another job to go to.

      How have you been otherwise?
    20. Bergelmir
      Bergelmir
Yeah, Shadowman suffered heavily from the creative team change midway. New writer just wasn't that good. Didn't help that the new guy went in retconning stuff in a book that wasn't even a year old.

I thought Lemire was doing pretty good in the first arc of Bloodshot Reborn. I was quite happy with that(although the resolution with the nanite AIs was a bit lukewarm).

I guess I don't see how this future story matters right now. We went from Ray's developing humanity and beginning a relationship with Magic to a standard post-apocalyptic story with Magic dead. It falls flat mostly because its leaving this other, better story hanging. It is a fun ride, though. I like it. I'm just griping 'cause I'd rather read more of present day Bloodshot.
    21. Bergelmir
      Bergelmir
Ha, yeah, it looks like the NF comic fans don't care for Valiant much. A shame.

I really liked what Kindt did with the Deadside in terms of worldbuilding. Up until now, it was mostly an afterlife with weird spirits hanging around. I like this spirit world thing going on.

I ended up liking the Magpie back up much more than the main story. Jack not actually being bound by Darque but by his own fears/guilt was neat. And spoke to Darque's manipulations nicely. I think I like Jack as Magpie more than as Shadowman.

I'd be down with bringing Image guys in for Deathmate. After seeing his work on Prophet, I'd like Brandon Graham to do something in Valiant.

I'm not sure what to think of Bloodshot right now. I don't really want another future story that doesn't do much or just gets erased. It feels like this should've been a Book of Death story. And its pretty much a retread of Old Man Logan.
    22. Bergelmir
      Bergelmir
Hell yeah. I feel we're in a bit of a lull in terms of quality, but its still fun.

Can you believe they're bringing back Deathmate? They better go all in, considering this was the title that really burst the comics bubble in the 90s.

Ah, it'll be fun. Thanks for sticking by me through my poor attempts at speaking French tho, much appreciated ;> Haha, the accent challenge is/was a challenge that was floating around on tumblr afaik that requires participants to read a list of words and answer a few questions via. audio post. I'm definitely not using it as an excuse to get you to send me more vocaroos because i like your voice :hurr How to do you pronounce 'doigte'? I imagine you pronounce the 't' because it ends in a vowel right? There's something so perverse about asking you how to pronounce "fingering" :lmao
      Well, I already know merde and putain because I have watched La Haine several times. Surprise me with some new words :}

Yeah, I guess back home people just have bigger families, whereas I guess in western cultures, families are generally smaller ? Still though it's nice, family over everything. I have two younger sisters who are 18, no brothers. What about you, any other siblings aside from your brother?

As for visiting DRC, you should definitely do it! Especially since it's been so long. It'll be good for the soul too, I'm sure. I'd like to visit India too but for a while (and this sounds so bad) I was quite... ashamed of it. I think growing up in England, I had become accustomed to that way of life and I found some parts of the Indian culture really didn't gel well with me but that was when I was younger. Now I'm older I can appreciate it more and realise I don't have to accept all parts of it and that's fine.

lol you know, we're gonna be GOAT :3

That is cute :] my granddad calls me jaboo as a term of endearment, it's embarrassing when he calls me that in public though ahaha. :catprone

What does bouffer and patates douce mean? I understood the rest :} I really like the word "pomme de terre" it translates into apples of the ground, right? That's so poetic, considering it's a potato :lmao Oh boy, prawns are the nicest. I like squid too. Calamari is literally the way to my heart. I like lobster and mussels too, whew.

You are too sweet, thank you ;> I'll need to get my old school books out after I graduate and go through them again. I realise there's a lot of really basic stuff that I have forgotten. It will be nice to start learning it again. Maybe one day we'll have conversations when I have picked it back up and am fluent in French !

oh my god ! I died at you saying Ravioli, although I must say, you make it sound very... pleasant. ;> You speak way too fast for me to understand, I had to replay it like 5 times to catch what you were saying ahahaha. I heard "Hi Ravioli, in response to your question today I went training (?) and after that I went to school (l'école?)". I didn't catch the last part. You have a really nice voice. We have to do the accent challenge ! Or you can teach me all the swear words, because really that's the first thing people do when learning a new language. I was at some bar when I went to Paris and some drunk girl told me how to say, "I finger myself" in French so that was fun. I've forgotten that now lmaooo

I last went to India when I was 11, I think. I would like to go back there but the opportunity hasn't arisen/timing has not been right. My more immediate family members (aunt, cousins etc) on my dad's side all live there and I have a lot of distant family members who live in India too i.e. my grandma and granddad's brothers and sisters and all of their kids, etc. I don't know them very well so it's sad to think that when my grandparents pass, I probably will have no connection to them. My extended family are so big, I don't even know who I'm related to. My mum's dad has 7 siblings, as does my grandma so it's pretty wild when you think about all their offspring. :catsweat What about you? Have you ever been back to DRC since you moved to Canada?

      s0Sa73JPnFWc

wat, why would you be disappointing me? It's cool that you have a dream and aspirations though, something to strive towards. I think what you're working towards is v cool, I'd like the same thing. My dream is to start my own gfx design agency but that won't happen until after working my ass off interning and gaining experience.

Haha, my mum started it and now it just stuck. It's the worst but I take it in jest. ;> Ristoboul? How did that come about? That sounds interesting.

j'adore le poulet avec des frites ou des pommes de terre :lmao My face lit up when I read fish. I fkn love fish and seafood. http://i63.tinypic.com/op09as.png I'd consider myself an ok cook, I love cooking. Can cook a few dishes, especially Indian ones. I also like baking :} I like working with pastry and cakes. Although me in the kitchen usually ends up in some traumatising incident. The first time I made caramel I stuck my finger into the pan not realising it was MOLTEN AS FUCK and another time I was making cake and I accidentally put it on the grill setting on the oven... but it's all part of the fun.

brb tho, coming to canada so you can cook me some food

s0tRgfJzd40w I can't stop laughing at my noob french. I think I really need another 5 years to relearn everything I was taught in school ahahaha but now I have you to guide me :hurr I think it's super cool that you know so many languages and it's nice that you practice them too. The way I speak Gujarati is so embarrassing, I can understand it fine but when I speak it, my grammar etc is so bad. I don't speak Hindi nor can I understand it, but my dad speaks it so I know there are a few similar sounding words but otherwise, they are different. I could be wrong though, I don't know much about sentence structure and grammar but phonetically, I don't think they are similar.

I actually wanted to be a secret agent when I was younger. That, or a rocket scientist but I'm bad at maths so that was never going to happen. What did you want to be when you were younger?

I haven't seen any of those live action series. I got recommended Jessica Jones by a housemate but I don't have the time to get invested in another series. Only live action series based on a comic that I watched was probably Smallville and even then, I didn't really get into it.

Chris is a nice name. Is it short for anything? I'm glad you think Ravs is catchy, it's better than the alternative nickname, which is Ravioli. #traumatised

No, you're not prying. I think having enough money to start the restaurant in itself was a challenge, I think he spent about ~£130k just to secure the building and do renovations, decorating etc. Hiring staff was also quite hard, chefs are quite expensive (but if your brother is a chef then I assume you won't have that problem) and my dad had to train the staff because they are all quite young and inexperienced. I think now it's up and running there's less stress, he was busy when first opening and ofc there were teething problems, like dealing with a lot of people at once etc, but it is a learning experience. I think he's doing alright now though, I think he's working on some marketing material to get more people to visit the restaurant.

Haha, I'd start off with a mild dish. Usually Indian chicken and lamb dishes are quite nice but don't go too spicy, especially if you aren't used to it or your asshole will be on fire the next day. What is Congolese food like? I have never tried that. Talking about food is making me so hungry, fml. Are you good at cooking?

I can't draw at all, it's funny because a lot of people assume because I study an art/design based subject that I can draw but nah. I only need to be able to draw enough to communicate ideas effectively. It funny that you say, "when I feel confident enough", it's a problem I have with my own work too, I hate critiques etc because I feel like "omg my work is so shit. everything i create is shit" when crits can help you to improve and be a better artist !! But really, believe in your work and keep practicing !
    27. effloresce

Haha, I guess so. I'm quite an introverted and introspective person, it has its pros and cons. I tend to overanalyse every situation, which is sometimes very detrimental. You aren't alone in finding that an attractive trait though, I'd rather someone took the time to think and is reflective, rather than the opposite.

Oh ! Honestly, I thought English was your first language when first speaking to you. I know a little French, I studied it for 5 years at school but it's very... basic :lmao. I have forgotten most of it because I don't use it, which is a shame. I'd like to pick it up again. The tenses are so confusing to me ! I was going to type a sentence to you in french but the only thing that came to mind was, "poulet" and "j'ai oublier mon cahier", yikes :lmao You speak three languages, that is so cool ! I can also speak a little Gujarati (which is an Indian language), but I don't really use it unless I'm speaking to my grandparents. :{ Haha, I get people thinking I'm Iranian a lot for some reason.

Haha you are right about Wolverine being a cash grab, I was actually getting super bored of it. Time for something new, I think. Imagine a movie with the characters who aren't so well known e.g. Magma, Dust etc. I'd fkn die whew.

Effloresce is awkward, I don't even think I pronounce it right irl tbh lmaoooo. My name is Ravina, but most people call me Ravs :} What is your name?

A couple of businesses? That's awesome, good to have that kind of motivation and aspiration :> Restaurant sounds fun, what kind of food do you think you'd serve? My dad opened an Indian restaurant quite recently, it was always a dream of his and I'm glad he's finally started it.

What kind of things do you draw? I'd love to see your drawings one day!
    28. effloresce
      effloresce
Do it, I dare you :catgun but if you do, remember that most 13 year olds don't really know what they are doing, hashtag don't judge me ;>

Yeah, I'm curious too. Hopefully one day we'll be able to view our rep history again. I think the mods implemented it a while ago for like a day or something hmm. Interesting.

That's exactly it, I think mistakes are made to learn from. Or something along those lines, I think that's the saying. I guess I always have a penchant for butchering idioms and sayings. I was talking to my housemate today who was having a bad day and I said something like, "when nothing goes right, go to bed". Wise words from yours truly.

Ah I see, I see. Do you also speak French? I assume you do, given that you also live in Montreal? And no, I'm not mixed. I'm Indian, my mum moved to the UK when she was 4 and dad moved here when he married my mum and so I was born and raised here.

I wish x-men movies focussed on anyone else other than wolverine. Honestly I am quite relieved that Hugh Jackman is retiring the role. It really winds me up when people think x men and wolverine are synonymous. I mean he's a great character but... I would love to see another character hold a movie.

It is fun, I love it and I'm glad I'm studying it. It's very rewarding to study something that you love but I admit studying it within academia is sometimes taxing. The pressure to succeed and time pressure i.e. working towards deadlines is not always fun. The real dream is to start my own design agency but that won't happen until after interning and working for a few years. But then I also think I'd like to go into teaching or do an MA, but I don't know what in. At the moment I'm thinking either advertising/marketing, animation, visual communication or English lit so that is still... quite broad :lmao I graduate in a few months so I really need to decide :catsweat

What about you? What is your dream? What kind of business would you like to open ?

Perhaps, I can't even go back and check because I have a tendency to delete a lot of posts. I cringe so bad when I look back at old posts - I joined NF when I was 13 and sometimes I read over my old posts and I want to delete my account. :lmao I have a feeling we might have PM'd briefly too but I probably killed that because I am notoriously bad at replying.

Ah nothing, I tried to laugh it off. I think I said something like, "oh I wasn't expecting that eheheh" but he didn't laugh with me, I just got a weird look. Totes awks, mad bants !! Then we had coffee but that was super uncomfortable and it turns out he was an asshat anyway so nothing lost there :B

Oh no!! That is so awkward, still I guess you were young so it's excused. Did you ever speak to her after that and explain what had happened? Hopefully she wasn't traumatised by it and you deal with such situations better :lmao. Still, I guess it's all part of the fun of growing up. I think everyone's gone through that awkawrd teenage phase when you don't know what's going on. I'm still going through it, I'm 22 and just awkwardly bumbling through life. When do you become a real adult? Who knows?

I was talking to my mother on the phone today and I was having a similar conversation with her, about fears about growing up, uncertainty about the future, etc and she was like, "I'm 50 and still don't know what I'm doing". My mum looks like she has her shit together, so that is somewhat reassuring.

You say that you had "newly arrived" in Canada? Where did you live previous to that?

Keeping my fingers crossed! They were adorable and to answer your question (that I forgot to answer), I will be seeing the new x-men movie, I'm quite excited but also anxious. I can't deal when movies fuck up canon i.e. kitty and chronoskimming in dofp. stop that bullshiiiiiit. ;_; Will you be watching it?

As for hobbies, I study graphic design at university so at the moment my life revolves around art/design. I like going to galleries/museums and exhibitions. whew, gotta get dat culture in me. I like music too and going to gigs when I can. What about you? What floats your boat?
    30. effloresce

I wonder what you repped me for in 2012 hmm.

haha I'm just weird I guess, I'm so awkward in regards to social etiquette and usually end up making the situation worse or embarrassing myself. My housemates joke often about me being awkward af in social situations. e.g. once I was meeting a friend of a friend and he did that whole air kiss on both cheeks thing and hugged me and it was like no, don't do that. Anyway, I didn't react and just stood there awkwardly :lmao I could spend all day telling you about awkward moments haha. What about you? Do you have any awkward stories? Let's break the ice !!

Ah, amazing choices. Ilyana is great, definitely read x-infernus if you have the time. I heard about kitty and star lord, I guess she really does have a thing for guys called Peter ahah. I am forever sad about what happened to her and colossus, I was rooting for them. :gglife
