This open Lakers window now, because all they have to do is wait it out and they can either get PG or Kawhi or maybe both after Lebron leaves.

Picks are the lifeblood of rebuilding NBA teams. Missing out on one as a lottery team for just 1 year stings and stalls a franchise. Missing out on one for 2, 3, 4, 5 years is unprecedented. You can say this risk is worth it, but you can't say the risk is trivial. It's protentially catastrophic. Trading protected first rounders is one thing, unprotected is another. Trading 1 is one thing, 5 is another. Trading the ones during contention is one thing, after is another (!!!!!!!!).

The amount of chips that need to fall into place for this not to be a disaster for the Clippers in 5 years should be a red flag.

It's not unprecedented. The Nets did it (to a slightly smaller scale) for worse players who were older less than a decade ago (especially if we include the retarded Gerald Wallace trade that cost them Lillard).

Yeah, both the Nets and Spurs show that picks are overrated. (1 recovered without high draft picks and the other has remained a playoff team even with injuries)

I mean the Spurs core for years has always been their own draft picks

    Learn some reading comprehension Para.

AFG is talking about mortgaging the future for years

What did the Nets get -

Three unprotected first-round draft picks plus the right to swap first-rounders in 2017. I added the Gerald Wallace trade which made it 5 first round picks

    Nets trade-
    4 Nets picks.
    1 pick swap

    Thunder trade -
    3 Unprotected thunder picks
    1 unprotected Heat pick
    2 pick swaps
    1 protected Heat pick

IMO, if you consider the age and capability of the players having an increased package doesn't really seem that unprecedented. The Nets just did something similar in terms of risk and future mortgage potential.

The overall structure and context of the deal isn't unprecedented. The players are better. In terms of risk and mortgaging the future, what the Nets did is in the same ball park which is the point I was making.

They will sign and both retire for health reasons.

    The ultimate Lakers humiliation.

How can you be sure, what if the two years are a disaster and a better situation is afforded? The league was already positioning for Giannis in 2021 and now you got 2 more premium players entering the open market.

But then, the Sixers management is not that good, though.

Everyone's momma is sucking Zions dick and he might end up just average. Free Agency, trades and draft class each have their flaws. I doubt the cali teams will feel any major blowback from this.

Yeah but the issue is, Presti is great at drafting/collecting assets, but horrible at team building/managinig.

Also, are the Rockets gonna somehow play basketball by splitting the aforementioned object of the game in half next season?

    There is only one ball.
