The 2010's haven't ended yet, so I'll reserve judgement.

We have a very large sample size. The only outliers are streamers throwing crazy money around to gain costumer loyalty.

This. Unless you mean 2000-2008 vs. 2010-2020

I mean, there's a chance that THE BEST MOVIE EVER could come out in 2019. Perhaps improbable, but not impossible.

(For example you have Infinity War 2 and Star Wars Episode IX coming out, as well as any surprise smash hits)

That in itself would not define the 2010's.

Oh yeah, Shrek was a thing, wasn't it?

Anyway, I have no idea. I feel like these types of comparisons only work when both decades are in our rear view mirrors. We can look at cinema from the 70's, 80's and 90's now because we recognize what movies endured, faded from memory or what trends began and died or what their overall contribution was. But I doubt people could really judge what was superior between the 1970's and 1980's in 1988.

Was the 2000's that much different than 2010's?

Star Wars had been revived and comic book movies were on the rise...in both the early 2000's and the 2010's...The top 10 highest grossing movies were all part of franchises (except "Avatar"). "Avatar" was the highest grossing movie of all time, yet its impact seemed minimal in the long run. Now we have the Marvel movies, but they might become irrelevant a decade from now.

Live action kenshin movies = Just as epic as LOTR

Nothing as good as Avatar? is this a joke?

Kill Bill =Man From Nowhere just as great.

Team America = 2011 Battlefield Heroes just as amazing of a satire.

    Le joker?

Just because a movie faded does not mean it cannot be later recognized.

Not even a match for me. LotR alone beats all the films that came after it.

I don't see the big deal is about LotR. They were good movies but far from masterpieces.
