    Let's be Geniuses:

    Synthesize three well-known facts:

    1. The newly unveiled villainous forces center around an organization, the ANBU "Root" .

    2. Our mysterious team leader shows proficiency in at least one technique--indeed a technique that is extremely, uh, rooted in a particular "elemental" type ninjutsu.

    3. The interpretation of the final frame in 286 is so ambiguous as to require the lead-out text to ask, "what is Yamato's mind?" --as if it should be anything other than merely what it has appeared in the past 2 chapters.

    Hmm...What does this mean?

WAIT. Nothing like Kishimoto wanting to assimilate Shodaime more creatively and relatively more insidiously than he did Nidaime.

I think it is called "Roots" because the Anbu team want things to go back to the way Konoha was before Sandaime. If the new old man is behind this group.

Didn't Sandaime take after Shodai and Nidaime?:huh Konoha's always been that way, we only know about Sandaime instilling peaceful ideals within his village because he's had the most face-time.

Let us not forget that speech that Shodai and Nidaime gave to a young Sarutobi.

Shodaime's principles and Konoha's pure roots =/= Danzou's rotten cracked roots.

Danzou also didn't like the way that Shodaime and Nidaime ran the village since A) Shodaime peacefully united various ninja families to create the village and B) because he has a stated bias against Tsunade because of her being from that family line.

The other definition of Root makes more sense. If the Leaf is the visible part of the tree, then at the other end of the plant, buried by the ground and invisible is the ...

    Etc, etc.
