and why they suck severe shit balls.

Under the guise of it being prog-rock a 'friend', sent me some tracks from these fucking talentless emo hacks. Whiny vocals, simplistic guitar riffs and weak f-ing drums.

not too ention a total lack of anything resembling decent song-writing.

    Fuck.

This left a truly terrible feeling in my brain-meats.

Bleh, i find myself listening to them occasional. They anit that bad imo, tho i must admit some of their songs are seriously shit house.
I guess i like shit music then.

And i dout they fall into the emo category.

    Anyhoo. IMO, they fucking suck.

I've only heard their first album which I didn't find to be emo, but I did find it to be contrived, simplistic, and every other negative superlative you can imagine.

Well they're labeled as prog by whoever choose labels for bands. Their first album was kinda bad prog, and their second is totally emo shit, with the whiny vocals and terrible musical skills (not that the first one was that much better...).

Their first album reminded me of a third rate wannabe Tool.

30 Seconds to Mars plays alt-rock, a genre that is pretty much dead now. If think they are even remotely close to being emo, then you don't know what emo is. Dash Board Confessional, the Used, and Story of the Year are NOT emo!! Try Rites of Spring, Fugazi, Husker Du, Moss Icon for emo. Try saetia, Hot Cross, or Circle Takes the Square for screamo since most people don't understand what that is either.

Their cover of Bjork's "Hunter" on the new album is a disgrace.

Their first album was great! Their newest release isn't as good, but it is still worth listening to.

    Any 30STM fans out there?

I really liked their song "I'll attack". I got it on my cd and comp. Please tell me, not as a fan, but as a great listener, if their first and second cd is worth downloading. As in, are their other songs atleast close or decent as "I'll attack"?

I heard one song and it did not interest me in the least. But each to his own.

Their intire first album sooooo owns "Attack". The newest album that attack is on is a different sound than their first, but their first will always be their best in my opinion. Capricorn, Edge of the Earth, Buddah for Mary, and The Mission are all great songs I highly suggest downloading :laugh

30 Seconds to Mars are one of the few mainstream bands that i can actually stand (along with 10 Years) and their first album is very, very good (can't see how people don't like it, but to each his own). The new album is alright, not as good as the first, but it is listenable. The first cd, 30 Seconds to Mars, has a spacey feel to it, which is probably why it left such a good impression upon me, and by spacey i mean like Outer Space type of thing (kinda like the 1st Hopesfall cd Satellite Years)

This girl got me into 30 seconds to mars a long time ago, to make up for me getting her into The Fall Of Troy. Their first album was incredibley good, and i actually quite enjoyed their new album, as well. Quite nu-metalish, but with good lyrics. Not to mention it's Jared Leto singing and playing guitar; the guy's a dreamboat.

eh i wouldn't classify either one of their albums as anything close to numetal, more like proggish rock for the first

Hmm, I gave them a listen. And I don't know about you guys, but their second CD sounds better to me. More songs on there that I can really feel than compared to the second one. I don't know, it was my first, so I'll give each 2 to 3 listens and see if I get use to them later on.

My friend tried to turn me on to 10 years last night.

I swear, I thought I was listening to Staind when the first song started.

Eh I suggest getting there first album which really rocks! As for there second, I'm not to impressed. It seems like they were trying to be something there not. Still fun to listen to though.
