    After seeing the raw, I'm glad Kishi can atleast send Asuma off in one of the most touching chapters in the manga. The artistic touches he used and the way he presented it just made it that more memorable.

    And I won't even lie, the last panel had me in tears :(

    Indeed, I thought Kishi handled his death beautifully.

    I'm truly glad this whole chapter was devoted to Team 10.

    To be honest I was more sad more with the Going Merry on One Piece :headscrat

    But I have to give in too. It was a great chapter indeed and extremely well done. Nice for a change.

    Seeing how almost everyone here has respect for asuma, and there's not that much bitching about how cheap it was and so on, I think kishi did a pretty good job ;)

    But seriously, great chapter. Unexpected, and affecting even more because of that.

    It was lame if we have in mind Asuma's performance during the fight.

    Sasori, Gaara, Chiyo, Sandime Hokage. All had a great fight, with amazing jutsus and a well done death. Asuma only the latter.

    Me too, but I'd be more sad about that than almost anything (including if any of the other OP cast died, or most of the Naruto cast). >_>;

    Gaara didn't have a well done death. Neither did Sasori that much.

    The only ones who had both a great fight and a really touching final scene were Sandaime and Chiyo IMO.

    Gaara had a flashback with Kankuro that showed that he become Naruto's bitch.
    Sasori got flashbacks of his past, a child that lost his parents.

    IMO those two were on the same level like Sandaime and Chiyo.

    I really liked this chapter, opposed to when Going Merry went down in One Piece. For some reason the latter did not touch me at all. Greatly done, and shows that Kishimoto knows how to handle deaths. I need to have a little distance before I can truly get emotionally involved - will wait until Shannaro has finished the arc. Then I'll reread the 20 latest chapters again.

    For some reason the most touching moment for me so far was Gaara's revival. I know many people dislike that part, but for me it simple really struck me. The funny thing is that the first thing I read it I didn't really notice, but when reading through part 2 again...

    Back on topic: Great chapter, shows that Kishimoto is unpredictable, and that he handles emotions beautifully.

    I agree, a very well done chapter. I can imagine the anime version...it'll be kind of like when Sasuke left and was talking to Sakura.

    Kishi can still do drama. This and 279 are the most emotional chapters of part 2.

    Most definitley, though I guess whether or not he did crazy jutsu, the end result would have been the same if it was set in Kishi's mind to kill him off.

    Though I would have been estatic if he had atleast summoned Enma.

    Well, to be fair, the Going Merry was a main character in One Piece. He's considered a fellow nakama of the Mugiwara. Asuma is a minor character, really.

    I wasn't expecting anything truly tear-jerking with Asuma, but who knows...maybe the anime will get to me with Sadness and Sorrow playing in the background inevitably. xD

    It was done very well, especially the part with Shikamaru and the "smoke getting in his eyes" part... genius/10.

    heh, indeed. I had Sadness and Sorrow playing while I read this chapter... it certainly helped ;_;

    Yeah, this chapter was really well done. I'm glad that all of Asuma's students were there with him at the end--it was so touching when he gave a last message to each of them. And that bit at the end with Shikamaru crying in the rain and saying "The damn smoke always gets in my eyes" almost made me cry too.

    I think since we saw it coming yet held a little bit of hope, or security that Kishi wouldn't do it that Asuma's death hit us a little harder... or maybe we all had PMS..
