I have two theories about this tree.

    1. It could be one of the trees that produces devil fruit(s). making the devil fruits so it can purify itself to make the world's best wood.

    2. It could be the center of the nation that was wiped out during the hundred years that were lost like it was told in robin's flashbacks:amazed. The world government could also have taken hold of it and put their base or someone else's headquarters(like sengoku or the five elder stars) on it to protect any remains of the ancient city. They could also be selling off pieces of the tree for a profit.

I personally like the second theory more though.

I think it's the opposite of the Devil Fruit trees. After all, it makes the best ships in the world, whereas Devil Fruits are hated by the sea.

Adam is... for lack of a better term... an Angel tree.

That would make trees that produce Devil Fruits, Devil Trees.

Yeah. It gets rid of the evil by putting it in a fruit.

Reminds me of Adam and the garden of Eden. They ate fruit from the tree they weren't supposed to, and that fruit made them become sin.

So... would this Tree of Adam produce Angel Fruit? XD

Obviously, this Treasure Tree Adam is a VERY special tree, and Franky knows about a lot about this. Perhaps it has some sort of special property that is ideal for ship material.

I think it's because of it's durability. It was stated that it would remain unscratched in a war.

lol, this just hit me as i was rereading the chapter

if the tree can't be damaged... then how did they get wood from it? how will they shape it into the frame of a ship? O.o

It isn't unbreakable, just really, really, really hard. I'm sure someone with super-strengh can break it.

^ It could have been one of those trees, just the bombs from the Buster Call was just powerful enough to break the tree.

I guess if it's REALLY REALLY REALLY hard, then Frankie would make wood out of it the same way whoever made those seastone handcuffs that we saw in the previous arc.

...in a way that I have no clue about...

Being extra durable isn't the only special property it could be I think. There could be other possibilities.

Perhaps Merry was made out of it? It took a lot of beatings for such a small boat. It may also explain why the ship had a spirit.

^ If the Merry had been made out of it, then it would have lasted a lot longer.

Also, if the new ship is going to be made out of the wood the merry was, it won't last too long.

Not really, the Merry was a very small ship, and took a lot of damage, such as Laboon, Reverse Mountain(?), Skypeia, and misc. times from Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro. Plus, there's the roughness of the Grand Line. And then we got Usopp's minor repairs on it. For a ship of its size and the things it went through, the Merry lasted a long time.

^ I would say it lasted as long as it did not because of the wood, but because of it's spirit and heart.

God, that sounded lame all of a sudden. 0.o

But the spirit didn't even develop until Skypeia. Most ships would have been gone before that.

If it's not the special wood, it musta been damn strong.

I doubt that Merry was made of it, wouldn't that destroy the awesomeness of the new one?

Yeah, the point is that this ship won't ever die. If Merry were made of it, then one of the many shipwrights who saw it would have mentioned it at some point.

Well, of course. It'd be too cliche' to keep killing off ships.

People checked over Merry, so I don't think the ship is made of that wood, they would have scapped it for pieces, oh and it probably wouldn't have died.

The tree it came from, I don't know it could be a devil fruit tree, it expells the evil through the fruit so the tree it purified. Overall I am not really fussed though I don't see it as a huge importance.

I have a wild feeling that its a tree that "ate" a paramecia DF fruit in it... could be the steel steel fruit... that is why it isn't moving...

^ It can be mended into a ship by Franky, so I'm pretty sure Zoro has the ability to cut it.
