Valedictorian and his parents still did this because he wouldn't go to church with them, real good Christian values there. He'll end up more successful and educated than either of them.

Why are you vilifying the parents? They have no obligation to provide food and housing for an adult. Had they chosen to do that it would've been hospitality, but let's not confuse the lack of hospitality for hostility.

The parents were clearly good parents since they instilled the proper discipline and provided the right environment for this kid to excel academically.

It was nice to see the teacher to set up that Go Fund Me and help him out financially. But the parents did nothing wrong, and if you think they did you're an entitled POS.

To paraphrase the Bible, "Those who love their families more than me are not worthy of me". The Bible promotes placing religion and God over your own flesh and blood, so the logical extreme of that would be disowning one's family if they don't fall in line with God's teachings.

A homosexual person already has to deal with a lot of bigotry, the very least a parent can do is be supportive and loving.

Yeah, they might reconsider their feelings about their son if they end up in a crappy retirement home and he's a successful ambassador or something.
The Bible is a big book, with a fuckload of supplementary materials. All translated with an agenda multiple times before it gets to modern English. If people squint at it the right way, they can justify pretty much anything. Don't doubt that people use the Bible to justify personal and communal ideals.

It's so weird seeing this as my mom is the exact same way except a little worse. She said if I ever turned gay she would kick me out, disown me and never speak to me again. I feel bad for people in families like this

What a piece of shit parents!
Homophobic piece of shit at that.
It may be hard for that guy now emotion wise but he is better off without them.
