WEll so far from what we've seen the older a character is the more experience he has had. Looking at old characters do you think age creates strength.
    • Sarutobi
    • Orochimaru
    • Tsunade
    • Jiraiya
    • Kakuzu
    • Chiyo

I'm also hoping that old catgranny 's gonna be badass.

From those characters do you think that age does in fact mean strength.

I think it doesn't because Itachi can definately hold is own against nearly all of those. and so can Yondaime IMO.

Umm, not sure if this is spoiler but Kakashi makes a speech about

    Spoiler:
The younger generation surpassing its elders.

Plus have you seen Sasuke recently?

Experience does factor in but you can't have your speed and agility back as you get too old.

Well the older characters are naturally going to be powerful, as they have more experience. But remember that the younger characters are getting stronger and stronger, so the adults will probably seem really weak eventually.

    Spoiler:
Plus, Sasori's one of the older characters and he was pwned by Sakura (and Deidara, who's much younger, survived), and Hidan and Kakuzu were also older and were killed by the Naruto and Shikamaru. And Orochimaru was killed very quickly by Sasuke. So I think it's safe to assume that the older characters aren't as strong anymore. If that made sense.

Age is a relative factor in power, as pretty much everything that affects the outcome of a battle. The only real advantage in being older is that you have access to a wider variety of techniques that younger combatants don't have, and that means you'll be less surprised when some young dude comes and start pulling techniques that he thinks is new, but you already know it <- obvious reference to Bleach.

    Spoiler:
Wasn't Sasori pwned by Sakura *and* that old woman?

Age doesnt equal Strength. Experience is what equals strength. I mean look at Haku, Gaara, Itachi, Sasuke. They're all young and would Pwn alot of the older Shinobi ('m not talking about the ones Listed). But I guess when you look at them you can only see Raw Skill as they dont have as much experience as the Older Bunch

    Spoiler:
Sasori was pwned by the team of Sakura and Chiyo. It was a team effort. One on One, neither would have stood a chance in hell against Sasori. But If you have Teamwork and a little Plot No Jutsu than you can beat anyone

Sasori was rather old, and if Yondaime was still alive he would be pretty old as well

    Spoiler:
Orochimaru's fate was decided because he completely held back and did not want to injure Sasuke. And he would've won had it not been for his degenerating host body and illness as well.

Age is impressive as well as the skills and expierence that come with it.

Sasori was in his 20s and Yondaime also died in his 20s.

You don't age when your dead so Yondaime's no older than he was when he died and both Yondaime and Sasori could take on those characters when they died.:notrust

Age brings experience, but it also makes them at a disadvantage, like Orochimaru said when he was fighting . Younger people like Haku, Neji, etc. tend to be more skilled.

Kakashi said, of Haku back in the Wave Country arc, "in this world there are children younger than you but stronger than me" so age = strength is not necessarily a given.

For that matter, seeing the cat granny again isn't necessarily a given.

During wars, the weaker ones died and the stronger ones survived, so the old ones happen to be strong because everyone else who would be their age has been killed off earlier. Ninjas live short lives and have a high fatality rate, so for a ninja to live till their old means they're very strong and mostly undefeated.

They're old and strong because they've survived many battles and not been killed off at a young age, not the other way round.

    Young surpassing the old is one of the themes of Naruto to me. Although the older generation have experience it doesn't seem to particularly help them in staying alive. x.X;

yeah that was what kakuzu was saying before he got his ass handed to him by sasuke right
    or that explains norman
it could also be the reason why itachi slaughtered the uchiha
    clearly your logic fails

have you taken into account experience? that plays alot into being strong.

some one who was the strongest person from the old generation fights you who is the current generations (say the age of 16-22) strongest. you maybe a bit stronger but the lack of experience is going to be your down fall. because of factors such as not being able to tell certain specific movement and whatnot for attacks etc etc

Considering the extremely dangerous lifestyle that Shinobi lead, I would say that one would have to be fairly strong in order to survive to old age. Therefore a more accurate description would be that strength leads to old age, not old age leads to strength.
