I am. You hear stories of Americans being killed while on vacation because they are American. Some people in some countries dislike the U.S.

    I'm not.
As a matter of fact, I'm going on vacation to another country next month.
    Maybe I should be afraid.
But fear doesn't usually stop me from doing something once my heart's set on it.

I don't believe that the majority of people from other countries are stupid or violent enough to start trouble with me because I come from the U.S.

I have friends in several other countries met via the internet. If I did travel perhaps I'd stay with them and use that as a grounding point to better fit in, but that's never a bad idea when moving to a new place whether you anticipate hostility or not.

i think there is a lot of anti USA feelings throughout the planet right now but its understandlbe because of the extreme dominant position the USA has, its like not only just the last superpower, but its actually gotten more than a superpower, its a hyperpower now, its like a roman empire.... so of cours everyone hates us just for that alone. i would probably lie and pretend to be canadian lol

Would I be scared to go to countries where their feelings toward us are ill in nature? No. Would i be scared to go to countries where their actions towards us are possibly ill in nature? Yes.

    There's a difference between words/opinions and gunfire/missiles.

Of course, if you go where it's the most dangerous, even warned, you should be afraid. But the outside of America has lot of great places. Don't be a scaredy cat ! Look, Some places of America freak me out, but there so many places that are cool, I'll visit anyway.

If you need a guide for Paris, all I'll charge you is lunch. Rest is free.

    HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!

DUDE !! I already accompanied foreigners in Paris ! And when they tried to ask stuff and asked people if they speak english, most of the time they'd get a dark eye and be ignored, or there could be heared a "Putain de touristes..." from them !!

The people I helped were being nice and friendly, and not disrespectful, but just hearing the word "English" angers Parisians ! It's so funny !

It's true in certain countries (particularly politically unstable countries). I know for a fact that many people in my parents homeland get killed once people find out their American. Then again, I think it's partially tied up with economic reasons, because often they come in the form of kidnappings for ransoms. But more often than not, they'll kill the captive anyways regardless.

That's why I haven't gone back since I was 16. Way too dangerous. My parents have gone back a couple times to visit their parents, but it's always a worrisome situation every time they leave.

No American in their right mind should vacation to the middle east. Thats about the only place you'd be in physical danger. But so would people from about 70 other nations.

Many countries have negative feelings towards Americans, but that isn't going to even come close to physical harm. Only the middle east is a threat, because of the fanatisicm of many of their inhabitants.

Haiti shows extreme hostility to Americans or even Haitians who even give off an American vibe. Because of the political upheaval and differing factions, lawlessness is the norm and Americans are often the target. Seriously, if you don't have a Haitian accent or dress the part then you'll certainly be a target of either their hatred or seen as a meal ticket (ransom).

I've been to China many times. That place is awesome, even though it's stupid hot over there. I don't think many people over there care that I'm American, even though it's bleedingly obvious (I can't speak Mandarin for shit and I wear lame clothes).

It's not quite as Anti-American as many would think.

No, I don't have any particular worries about violence towards my person as a result of where I'm from, at least, not in the places I would willingly go to.

why the hell would i be? Hell i am going to be in europe for a month leaving on June 18th, going to Italy, England, France, and Spain as a grad gift from my parents for me being the first in my family to get a high school diploma. I do not see why you should be scared to vacation. I am not afraid to vacation since you may only have that one opportunity till it is gone forever. And for the people who do not like americans and want to come up to me to bitch at my face how they hate my country because of bush, they can go fuck themselves i am going to europe to take a nice relaxing vacation not to start fights with people who bitch at me about politics. In short simple answer no i am not scared to travel abroad, hell it is fun.
