Well, it depends on what you and what you are looking for in an anime.

Watch Code Geass. Basically a better version of Death Note.

Hunter x Hunter 2011 and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood are a must. Maybe even two best shonens ever made.

It's not an anime but it has an anime touch. Try The Last Airbender and then Legend of Korra.

I see you've already got my favorite covered. Are you watching Invisible Victory?

Other than that going by your list, I recommend the original Berserk TV series, and Hajime no Ippo.

The only 3 manga that matter right now

Also watch some oldschool Gundam because anime is older than 2008

Watch Gundam Wing the entire series of it. Also look into Paranoia Agent (oldie), Prince of Tennis, Major (sports anime), No Game No Life and Welcome to the NHK. A few you can take a look into it that I highly recommend.

Dorohedoro is a manga that has elements of terror, mystery, magic and pretty good black humor.
Also, im sure does not look like anything you've read before.

Pretty good list recommended by the various posters.

Having browsed through yr profile info, I see you are into the arts? If so, I would like to suggest Chihayafuru ( competitive karuta ), Kono Oto Tamare!( traditional jp string instrument ) and Piano No Mori ( piano ). While loosely related/categorized as sports and more geared towards the performing arts/culture type, they also have elements of drama and romance. Do note that Chihayafuru is targeted for a female audience so you might not like it. These 3 mangas have stories/characters which progress over a wider period of time in contrast with most traditional sports manga which usually occur from the start of their 1st yr in high school and ends within the yr during nationals/finals.

For something more traditional sports based like Haikyuu, Eyeshield 21 (rugby), Days (soccer) and Yowamushi Pedal ( bicycle racing ) would be more relevant.
