I've never tried it but I'm planning on doing so. I might take it as one of my classes next semester.

Digging up ancient threads... Too bad this seems to have died. Archery is so cool, any archers around anymore? I know someone commented on my 'hello' thread..... :)

How long have people been shooting?
Do you guys shoot barebow or use sight?

I've only been shooting for a little less a year, and don't even have my own bow yet. I shoot barebow, and will never ever start using sight.

I did archery when I was smaller to get a highschool scholarship.

It was really fun, yet it started to make my joints weak.

Okay, sounds like a good plan, under General Fc's???

Yes, theoretically I can shoot an apple of someons head 18-25 meters away from me, without accidents.

    I'm an archer!! ...sorta xD

I took lessons at a camp I went to for 3 years. I'm pretty decent, though I don't have any opportunities to do it anymore.

I won an arrow signed by Robin Hood ~the best Camp Councilor~ in a tourney I participated in. I got it mounted on my desk at home :iria

I think it was because I seemed to have a knack for it.

Maybe it was beginners luck but it felt really natural when I first started. While most people around me shot pretty wild, I was able to at least hit the target every time, so I had decent accuracy from the beginning.

We started out with basic composites but later on they let us do a little with the compounds. That was fun :wink

If it really felt natural, than it wasn't beginners luck.

I had the same, for some reason I knew from the beginning how to hold a bow, and how to shoot ( not perfect off course, but the important basics)

Compounds look amazing, I never shot with it, but I am planning to try it out once.

    Cool!

And yeah, compounds are a slice of heaven :laugh They are so much easier to wield.

I actually prefered composites for accuracy though. The compounds that I used tended to be so powerful that the arrow didn't fly straight xD

Actually that means that they used the wrong arrows. If you have stronger bow, you have to make sure that you have arrows, that don't break and fly straight. In other words, they have to be stronger too.

Compound looks great, but I still love to use my own recurve :p

(BTW you are now an official co-owner of the Fc)

Ah I see. Makes sense that the arrow should change with the bow :nod
