Whose manga has better art? I hope this more of a battle than Toriyama vs Kishimoto.

Oda easily. Now don't get me wrong. The T man's work is very good. But he uses the SAME FRIGGIN DESIGN on everything... jeez <_<

Been done before. I say it's a tie.

I dislike later Toriyama's work, too angular and sharp. Besides, he's unable to draw different types of face, and his backgrounds are all very bland. But the man is still a genius when it comes to drawing vehicles or mechanical stuff.

Oda on the other hand is probably the best when it comes to character design. All his characters are unique, and his art is reminiscent of that of Toriyama before DBZ, when it had rounder lines.

So my preference definitly goes to Oda.

    Oda's backgrounds own all.

    As for the character design:
Bon Clay, Gecko Moria, Gedatsu, and Buggy as compared to Goku, Gohan, Goten, and Vegito.

    Oda FTW.

I dislike Oda's artstyle and this isn't going biased but I find Toriyama's characters way more badass, example can be found here

Oda has a bigger variety of designs(just look at the characters he designed while working for the Ruroni kenshin dude), but Toriyama is THAT dude when it comes to everything involving action. Easy to follow, nice looking, and fun.

    Action scenes: Toriyama
    Backround: Oda
    Design: Tie

I like both a lot. But since I'm biased I'll go with Toriyama. :nod

Bird Mountain man for me. Oda's style is one I do not like, even though I enjoy the story.

edit: who/what did Oda design in Rurouni kenshin?

Toriyama's art style is clean and easy to follow, but Oda's ingenious character design and great background edges this one out. Still, I love both artists.

Tie... Oda sometimes makes his panels seem a bit too busy so its hard to follow whats going on at first, while Toriyama doesn't have those problems but Oda has spectacular backgrounds...hard to pick one so a tie it is

Toriyama draws cooler looking characters. He is better at drawing the bad ass types and much better at drawing muscle structure.

Oda is better at drawing comedic faces and facial expressions in general, also he makes better backgrounds(his panels are literally full of random shit).

Both are excellent in their set ways, Tie.

    Oda.

Both have great technical skill but Oda has an insane ability for designing characters.

When it comes ot Toriyama I can't help but get the feeling that all of his characters look exactly the same. Main reason why I never look at the dragon quest games despite their reputation.
