ADV is notorious for hunting down Torrents of their licensed stuff. They're like Osaka, except they know they're holding a butcher knife.

    Hehehe, I love that gag.

It was not that funny. The jokes made in this series are more intended towards younger children. I personally did NOT lmao while watching this series.

I laughed my arse off quite a bit, especially during the first two discs. Epsiode 8 is classic. Best Osaska episode ever, plus Chiyo-dad... need I say more! "Yo!"

5 out of the 6 volumes of the anime are out and you can buy them at Best Buy, Target, and fye. Those are the places I've seen them in my hometown. Be sure though to get Vol. 1 with the series box however, so when you collect them, they'll be nice and protected.

I don't think the jokes are especially aimed towards younger children, it's an all-ages thing I think.

Azumanga Daioh is great. I've seen it twice through a few years ago on fansubs.

I love the series, it's hilarious, although not all of the humour will appeal to everyone.

I bought all four of the mangas soon after it was licensed by ADV.

I agree, but the Australian censors didn't like Kimura's antics in episode 4 (with the pool) and they rated Volume 1 MA (restricted to those 15 and over unless accompanied by a guardian) in Australia. :(

I love Azumanga Daioh!! The first time me and my friends watched it, I was instantaneously dubbed "Osaka"

I have four of the DVDs... overcame my amazingly empty pocket to get it.

I agree wholly. For the kids there are the antics of Tomo-chan and Osaka. But then there is Kimura-sensei for some of us older ones (I LIKE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS THAT'S WHY!!! :p ) Also, all the puns on traditional Japanese culture is entertaining to watch.

All in all a great series that is fun to watch! Check it out!

^Yeah, it really is one of those all-ages things. You can't expect children to understand some of the jokes about Kimura.

    Well, I got the whole series in a subbed box-set. But I bought it in Hong Kong, so that's probably not much help ^^;

But I have to agree, this is a very funny series. It nice to see some normal (well, relatively normal) human wackiness from time to time.

AHH!! AHHH!! DON'T MAKE ME THINK ABOUT IT!!

The cooking song's helped me in my Jap class at school. Azumanga's educational!!!

It's strange they never did anything like the cooking song after the first episode. When I first watched the series I thought that there'd be something like that in every episode.

    Chiyo-chan's just too cute

is it just me or is this anime very very boring? everyone said it was hilarious so i went to see for myself. boy was it disappointing, just a few girls doing stupid stuff. no sign of the hilarity that was promised, only smiles here and there. i am hereby disenfranchised.

Well, I kind of agree with you.

I finished reading the manga (f*cking hilarious, read that!!) and then watched the anime and I found that I didn't laugh at many of the jokes. I really just watched it to see my favorite parts animated (and because Osaka and Tomo rock).

The manga is different. It's kinda like American comics in the fact that every day (usually) is 4 panels and every panel ends with a punch line which, 90% of time, leaves you with a smirk or you laughing out loud.

I highly recommend the manga. It's only 4 volumes.

well it is an acquired taste... you need to understand the japanese cuture to be able to comprehend and laugh at the jokes... :laugh For me, it is one of the best comedy anime out there... i have not see Yakitate! Japan, so this anime tops my comedy anime list... 2nd would be Full Metal Panic! Fummoffu, then Galaxy Angels come in 3rd.... :)

Hey! Have you guys ever seen these Azumanga Daioh spoofs? I nearly laughed myself to death when I saw these so I thought I'd share with fellow AzuDai fans!
Also, does anybody have any more of spoof pics? I remember seeing some in the past of different animes?
