heheh, while all the fillers are going on and thursday is soo far away, i went back and read the first couple of manga chapters
Is it me, or was it just a lot funnier back then? Dont get me wrong i know all the important stuff is happening right now with Jutsu's coming out from everyone left right and centre, but your basic slapstick giggles just dont come up much in the manga anymore

a few quotes from the early ones that just got me giggling today ^_^

Sakura - "What? That wasnt a Ninjutsu, that was just a super powerful ass poke"

    Sasuke - "...To...Kill a certain man..."
Naruto (glare) - "I hope he doesnt mean me"

Naruto - "You have Kakashi's old man smell!"

    Sakura - "Sasuke! You're alright!"
Sasuke - "Stop! Dont hug me!"

Naruto - (About Kakashi) "He's so cool..." <-- this one's just cute ^_^

Its also quite fun to go back and see Naruto baffled about Sharingan and the such. I've only just gotten into Naruto in the past...4 months? Something like that? Has Kishimoto always flown solo on the art he draws or are there others who help out? I know there's a big production team, but its just that the artwork is so different these days than it was back then. I kind of miss it :cry
Anyway. Get well soon Richard Hammond. :p

Kishi draws the manga alone, but his drawing has improved, it's become more simple and clean which I like. He has a team for backgrounds-panels, writing and such.
Also, Kishimoto said that Part 2 would have a darker theme, so it's normal there are less jokes.

Yeah old times was the best XD

I've also noticed that the drawing design has been changed/improved greatly :amuse

The style, the jokes (Have you seen how inner Sakura has became less frequent as the story advance).

    And he has really improved.

Sometimes change is for the better. Part 2 has had some pretty frickin hilarious moments (Deidara and Tobi anyone?), but the dark dramatic parts are most of what makes The Naruto World go round for me.

He has an animation team. In fact he drew them awhile back (though I think he got a new assistant later on), it's just that his art gets better after seven years.

Right. I don't think that Kishi is slacking on the humor in recent chapters, the mood was just lighter in the beginning of the series.

Plus, the whole "Naruto is a lovable idiot" shtick is starting to wear thin now that he needs to get his act together and really accomplish something.

well, the manga is getting more dramatic, because of all the crap that is happening, there is not time for fun and laughs at this point and time

I kinda miss the comedy....but the fight scenes are so much better now. And I like the fact that they're older.
And the sai nicknames thing was pretty hilarious...
