Every Flat is Justice, but not every Justice is Flat.
Hope they continue to go ham for all big episodes
I'll admit that you can tell they put some work into this even if it's not what I prefer. But considering this is just one specific episode and their best is a kind of animation that is unclear, and resembles a work in progress, I get the feeling they lack the resources to get even that quality of animation every episode.
And, though I don't like how mediocre the usual animation looks (which make sense after learning about all the internal issues) I don't think I could tolerate this kind of animation every episode.
I mean, one of the reasons one chooses to watch shonen, even when reaging the (often superior) manga, is to see the battles animated in a clearer way than the manga. So if the anime is making it more confusing, it's not helping IMO.
It actually reminded me of one brief second during the Saitama vs. Boros fight, after Boros goes Meteoric Burst and starts blitzing around the place. For one second, I couldn't tell what was happening.
Aster vs. Ladros was like that, except instead of one second, the confusion was stretched out over several minutes. At one point, all I could perceive was a bunch of colors. That's it, just colors. No distinctive shapes or anything.
Just...colors. Fucking horrible.
I didn't actually mind it for Boros cause its a good effect to show a character moving super fast besides the instant tp look where the other character just drops dead but Boros only had that effect for a short amount of time...this was so much worse.
>Trying to hate and yet BC is trending on Twitter
I am not a Bot...I can think for myself.
Great! I really hope more and more people start appreciating BC. That still doesn't change what I think of the episode. It's not the Pain episode but it's also not the Momoshiki fight.
It was wild and new.
Fairy Tail and Gash/Zatch Bell had a child and its name is Black Clover.
I love all three of those series .

WE'RE GETTING THE FLASHBACK FIGHT OF YAMI VS JACK??!?!??!!?!
I'm like 15 mins into the first episode and I think my ears are bleeding. Is this normal?
"AaAaaHHHhh!!!!" - Asta
It's not just the yelling either. His voice is just so terrible. What even is this?
Sub or Dub?
Yeah, it's normal. Instead of toning down the more annoying aspects of Aster's personality, Pierrot emphasized them. Luckily, they have since toned it down after the initial backlash, but good luck getting through those first episodes. There is light at the end of that dark tunnel...
I checked the dub too, it's way more tolerable. I just don't get the choice to have Asta scream every vowel in his sentences in the sub. He's like an actual parody of a shonen protag.
I don't really care much for sub anyway.
It gets better. I think if you wished to return to the sub it would be better to go on watching it, after the first episodes you expect it so you are used to it and eventually it stops being a problem. But I guess you can also start with the dub and if you ever feel like it return the sub. Or, of course, just stick to dub.
As to why it was done, well, I've considered that, since Asta kinda has that effect on people in the manga due to being loud, maybe in the anime they wanted to sort of make the audience feel that way exactly. But it clearly didn't help making a good impression. As for being a pardoy, well BC does parodize shonen often so maybe that's the reason Tabata characterized Asta like that in the first place.
Btw, this isn't aimed at Sloth, but I've already seen a handful of people switch to the dub or consider it due to Asta's voice and while there's no denying the issue with his voice at the start of the anime, I find it a bit of an exaggeration to consider dropping the sub because of it. It's not that there's anything wrong with watching the dub though, it's just Asta's voice being the reason that I find a bit excessive.
I mean, we all noticed the voice thing in the first episode cause it takes you by surprise and you can't help but cringe. But I think by the following episodes one is ready for it and can more easily ignore it, especially since it doens't take long to improve as you watch.
Still, I do prefer people switching to the dub and still giving BC a chance rather than they just drop it cause of Asta's voice and nothing else. Can't blame them though, that first episode is hard to get through. What were they thinking? Cause, considering the voice actor has proved he's decent in fact, it was probably intentional
I probably won't drop the sub, because I'm an elitist snob, but Asta's voice would be more than enough of a reason to do so. It literally hurt my ears. It's not just an annoying voice or bad casting (ie Natsu's Eng dub). Asta's yelling is actively abrasive and jarring. It makes his scenes legit hard to watch. I remember actually taking note of the times he wasn't yelling in episode 1 because it was such a genuinely pleasant change of pace.
Nice summary of the extent of this ability. It cover the manga too but I post it here since the ability was revealed in the recent episodes.
Started watching this somewhat recently, but...I'm kinda fond of it. Wizard King is by far the best character though.
Shame he eventually dies.
EDIT: Yeah, I'm gonna have to take that back, Yami's definitely the OG here.
Voiced by Ada Wong and Arnold from Hey Arnold.
I are confused.
Will be appearing next week in episode 70
But what's the "Arnold from Hey Arnold" part about?
VA for sis Leon also voices Arnold in the JP version.
Ohhhhhhhh Ok. Bruh, you had me going off and googling the voice of Arnold. I didn't know Hey Arnold showed in Japan.
