    13 candidates.

5 with a realistic chance of winning.

The leader of the polls, center-left candidate and former president Lula, boasts almost 40% of the voter intention, but he is in prison. His replacement, Fernando Haddad, has one month to convince voters he is the one who can represent Lula's ideologies.

Next comes the far-right candidate, Jair Bolsonaro, who will spend the entire first turn in the hospital, after being stabbed during a campaign. But most of his campaignining is done by his followers on social networks anyway. Can he overcome his massive rejection in the second turn?

Ciro Gomes wants to be the next left-wing president, and has been trying since 2002. But he wants to do it without Lula. Can he overcome Haddad's party support?

Geraldo Alckmin is the estabilishment candidate, with a giant alliance between the market, the parties and the media. But can all of that overcome the fact he has no charisma whatsoever?

Finally, Marina Silva is the ultimate moderate, wanting to find the middle ground. Does the middle ground still get votes in 2018?

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the craziest election of Planet Earth. First turn is in October 7th, second turn in October 28th.

    Stay tuned.

Anyone who has "left" in the description.

Which means I'm torn between Haddad and Ciro.

Ok, so ideologically they are the same thing. They both want to tax the rich and reduce taxes from the poor. They want to revoke the austerity reforms made by Michel Temer. They want to increase consumption and bring back jobs now rather than later. And they want to prioritize education and industrial production. It's Keynesianism 101.

For me, the biggest issues are political. The Worker's Party plan is the craziest thing I've ever seen in politics. They used loopholes to keep Lula as a candidate for as long as possible and switch to Haddad in the last minute. I'm worried that some judge will find a way to bar it. And he is from the party that suffered two coups already, they will try it again. Haddad is already being accused of some electoral irregularities. Furthermore, he is the one with the hardest time beating Bolsonaro in the second turn. Haddad vs Bolsonaro will be the ultimate polarization. There will be blood.

Ciro, on the other hand, brings less hate from the right, although the savvy ones already realized he's left. But he's willing to negotiate with politicians from all parties, and I think they'll reciprocate. But maybe he is willing to negotiate too much? I'm worried he might sell-out. And his VP candidate was a hardcore conservative until a few years ago, I'm worried she might come back to her old ways.

Ciro Gomes is well-prepared though. No, seriously. He lost in 2002, and it seems he has spent all the time since then doing homework for the next attempt. He has plans. He knows data and numbers. He was governor of the state of Ceará and he can map everything he says to something that worked in there.

Haddad I don't know as much, because Haddad joined the election today. But generally, I've heard good stuff. I read an interview from him that I liked. He seems honest and competent. His VP doesn't force me to look the other way. And fuck yeah Worker's Party. But I need to see more from him.

    Decisions decisions.

Out with the current government. Some mummies are now gone because of mismanagement of the culture ministry.

Because it’s not an opinion or up to debate that Brazil or Quebec are holding elections.

There is 1 or 2 Swedes and their country is smaller than Brazil. So yes, it deserves a thread.

Ciro or Haddad. Unfortunately Boulos is out of the question.

... Who is jailed for a political conviction ? I would be proud as fuck to be in Haddad's place. In the name of fucking Lula ? The guy who literally has an ideological phenomenon named after him( ) ?

I mean WHO KNOWS WHAT SHE WANTS ? Her plan is very conservative and she flip flops between left leaning and right leaning. We literally have no idea what she stands up for.

I d’uni, i just picked the only female on the ballot. In contrast with the recent Swedish election which had two female leaders. Was curious who many guys were running too.

All I know is the leading party will lose a lot of seats due to the museum fire.

Oh I see ... Well, she's a bad deal tbf.

MDB is the leading party shadowing Brazil for decades now. They don't want the presidency so they can lurk behind the shadows and let the party of the president take all the heat from any scandals. Being a president comes with the burden of being the shield of PMDB/MDB .

    *Who is jailed for corruption.

And hell, he isn't even paying for everything he did. Palocci said Lula was involved in many bribes and illegal exchanges.

But I know, I know. Everything bad that happens to the Left is a cruel conspiracy.

If there ever is a "Nobel Prize of Dickery", then Politicians in Brazil would be the winners every year. PMDB alone would probably have stuff to be awarded for the next milennia.

Nope, he is jailed for a political reason. Do I think he is probably guilty of many things ? Yes, I'm not denying that. I'm denying however, that the judgement by the retarded ass Moro was not politically motivated.

And no, not everything is a cruel conspiracy, I am a historian, I hate conspiracies. And conspiracies need you to believe that there is some facts that are hidden, yadda yadda.

The reasons why I argue that this is a politically motivated arrest are all in the open, and can be verified. Don't put me on the box of conspirationists, that people sicken me.

    Bolsonaro: 28%
    Haddad: 18%
    Ciro: 11%
    Alckmin: 6%
    Marina: 4%

Looks like it's gonna be Worker's Party vs Far-Right.
