Remember when people could tell the difference between real life and movies? Good times.

Well this was a dumb way to work alongside a charity. Who the hell even cares whether a villain has some sort of facial deformity? If anything, have more characters with deformities that are good guys.

I agree; this is an amazingly ridiculous decision and clear evidence that people are unable to distinguish the difference between fiction and reality. Do people not have any better or more productive way of spending their time than this?

This isn't a law banning people from making these villains, this is just BFI saying they're not financially supporting people who do. No one is stopping people from making the movies they want to make.

Yes, they are allowed to make that decision if they wish to do so, but, in my mind, this is a clear case of excessive political correctness, which I thought was a problem only in the United States, but is apparently a problem in other nations, as well.

Just another thing in the list of pampering the world seems to require now a days, from Government colour coding cereals so people know which ones have a high sugar content (could just read the label but yeah) to this stupid decision because there is a minority of people who take things literally from film and can't decipher the difference in real life. I have never saw someone with a facial deformity and thought Jesus Christ it's a super villain because I am not a fucking moron. Too many people these projecting their on insecurities onto others so much that it's affecting the majority on what we can say/do/enjoy it's no wonder people don't communicate anymore and just wander about staring at their phones like mindless zombies.

This post provides a perfect summary of the situation, so I am quoting it for posterity.

The government is color coding breakfast cereal? I go shopping every week, and I have not noticed that.

I see nothing wrong with this.
They aren't banning movies with villains with facial deformation. People still have every right to make villain as ugly as they want. It just means they won't get government funding for it.
It is easy to dismiss people's concerns over it really but you don't know what it means to be stereotyped until it happens with you or your community. Everybody resents being stereotyped. Don't even try to deny that fact. People who had facial deformation obviously gonna not like constantly being portrayed as a villain.
This is non news. Nothing earth shattering is happening here. Nobody is losing their creative licence here. No need to get all 'indignant' over this.

He didn't say anything worth responding to. "Political correctness is ruining everything" has always been a fucking stupid take, and it's not worth responding to anymore.

If you disagree with it then say why, otherwise you're just tacitly acknowledging it to be true.

How many people with facial disfigurements exist, anyway? I cannot imagine that they are so numerous that they would be upset by villains in movies being disfigured, or start such a social movement, especially considering how advanced cosmetic surgery is, now.
