A select few of you are aware of my rather lofty ambition.

(Not the take over the world one, that's not lofty, just my due), to create a website dedicated to music. Not metal, not hip-hop or indie rock. Music. Good music that is (as defined by me obviously... ;) )

In it's purest sense the site will focus on highlighting the best of the industry, from Johnny Cash to MF Doom, Nevermore to Enya, the focus will be on articles, reviews, interviews (which I hope to start by interviewing K'naan), forums, a comic (written and drawn by yours truly), and Net Radio stations.

Ultimately, I hope to have it become large enough to be one of THE music sites on the net, and I'll be fucked if I'm quitting till I hit that point.

So here's the proposition, this is pro-bono, for the love of music, there will be no monetary or financial gains (for me or anyone else), but I am looking for people to write articles, reviews, thesis'es, comics (no need for me to be the only one).

I would like to start with the basics.

Articles on Genres and lists of the five (or ten I'm not sure yet) seminal albums from that genre, including a brief two sentence blurb o the album.

Articles on cross-genre busters (and as above a list).

Articles on the industries legends (dead or alive) including recommendations for discovering them.

Reviews of albums (preferably starting with albums you consider seminal)

Articles on underground bands/scenes and how to find them, define them, support them.

    Music inspired art.

Above all, remember. Johnny Cash is a legend and many people know almost nothing about him (or did until a week ago) but Greenday is on the radio every fucking day.

I will instantaneously delet any files about exceedingly mainstream bands, or well-known bands.

For the moment, we want to open peoples eyes up to what's under the surface, or lost to time..

I am a dick, this needs to be stated, so if you try and convince me that a Simple Plan article is necessary I will tell you to fuck off and maybe send an ED!ot to murder you in your sleep...(unless said article is like colins little blurb about them. ;) )

Humorous articles are fine, live show reviews are awesome, interviews will be accepted whole heartedly and with love...

    So. Waddya say?

I love to write (possibly will get a journalism major), and I loves me some music (most likely to be a producer). Count me in.

You will need a lot of staff to do that and plenty of time. And a feature that sets you aside from the know it all music critics sites. It's sounds good though. It's just that í am an avid music lover, but my writing and analytical skills leave something to be desired. Perhaps i could find snippets and fresh releases etc. Good luck anyway

Well, I am a know it all music critic.

But that asides, what I intend to do to set it aside is to always remember that humour helps, fanboyism needs to be moderated and that above all it is the pursuit of art (not profit) that defines the greatness.

I don't get it, is this for ALL music, or just music you that you define to be good. If it is the latter, you should really be more specific and maybe list the genres you are looking for. A lot of people like mainstream music, metal, hip-hop, etc. So as just not to confuse those kind of music listeners, you should really make it clear about what type of groups or bands you're interested in. You mentioned that you like concerts, how about classical and jazz concerts. Although the creators of classical and jazz music are all dead, there are plenty of good performers and virtuoso instrumentalists out there. So, yea, be specific about what you really want, cause a lot of people have very different ideas about what they think is music.

    Frankly, I pointed out.

    This is about MUSIC.

I don't care if it's metal, hip-hop, jazz, blues, classical, etc.

But to make things easier for you, I define good by the following simple rules.

    Does it challenge pre-concieved notions?
Does it have something to say?
    Is there artistic merit?
    Will it/Does it have a powerful impact/influence?
    Do I personally like it?

    *shrug*

I imagine the majority of the people who will get involved are the ones who have if not the same tastes as I, simliar views and approaches to what is good.

i don't have a way with words as you, Cata, and moe. I am also still such a noob in music. Sure, I could write some reviews and basic genre descriptions for your judgement. Keep in mind, english is my second language...

Oh sure, I'm supposed to believe you'll actually deliver Maho?

    :p

But to all who said they don't have much to answer, reviews alone are good enough.

There's a simple system for reviews.

Introduce the album, including any neat facts you know about. Do a song by song isting including anything positice or negative and how the track makes you feel. Finish it off with a percentage (out of 100)

    Then it begins.

    Formatts I like.

MS Word is preferable because it's what I use. (I'm lazy like that.)

Reviews are welcome right away, you may email them to and I will begin to fill up files.

In the long run, I would like to have a 'head' of each genre/department to prevent me from having a nervous breakdown, but for the moment I will shoulder it all.

Even if English isn't your first language, have a friend who speaks it natively help you edit it, please. ;)

Not to mention almost nobodies going to read a fifty page report (people are too lazy), but a good article on TMV is more than welcome.
