Okay, Macs don't make sense, I have an older iBook, but it should be able to hold the OS X, but the problem is it won't go past the preparing stage! WTF? Does anyone know what this could mean? Anyone know anything about reformating one of these things.

    *uses an iMac*

*installed Mac OS X four years ago*

Maybe it's your version of OS X.
Where did you get it from?
    What version? 10.3? 10.4?
Try apple.com if all else fails you, they might be able to help.

I can't remember that much about installing it... but dude, if I could do it when I was 9 with no help from my dad, you can do it =\

I found out what it was, apparently when I got the MAC the disk I got was a disk for an eMAC not an iBook, so it wouldn't go...

How old is your iBook? My G3 iBook (white one, not candy coloured iBooks) installed Panther just fine. I really don't know what could be causing the problem since I'm no tech expert. You should really post your problems on a Mac-specific discussion board: .
