    Darling in the FranXX
    Studios: A-1 Pictures/Trigger

    Synopsis from MAL
The story is set in the distant future. The land is ruined, and humanity establishes the mobile fort city Plantation. Pilots produced inside Plantation live in Mistilteinn, also know as the "birdcage." Children live there knowing nothing of the outside world or the freedom of the sky. Their lives consist of battling to carry out missions. Their enemies are mysterious giant lifeforms known as Kyōryū, and the children pilot robots called Franxx to face off against them. For the children, riding the Franxx proves their existence.

A boy named Hiro is called Code:016, and he was once known as a prodigy. However, he has fallen behind, and his existence seems unnecessary. Not piloting a Franxx is the same as ceasing to exist. One day, a mysterious girl known as "Zero Two" appears before him. Two horns grow out of her head.

I'll give it a watch. It's an original anime, and I hope it does well because we need more original stuff not half arsed source adaptions.

first ep was cool. Sets it up to have lots of potential character growths in the cast and the trigger fights are noticeable and mix with the a-1 production quality. MC is set up as the one that needs to get over depression and start soaring while the girl is set up as the one that's kind of a lost rebel.

The animation was impressive along with some other aspects of the visuals, but damn do they need a new writer. The actual script was awful. It's full of near nonsensical monologues and random weird comments.

It's great to see traditional mech animation in general.

Nah, it's the more generic sort of bullshit. Tomino bullshit is something else entirely :maybe :maybe

The animation gave me goosebumps. It's been a while since I last saw 2D animated mecha. First episode seemed interesting enough for me to continue. Also like Code 002 if I remembered right lol.

The way they pilot he robots reminded me of Pacific Rim, though it's strictly male/female :lmao

Just wait till you clearly see the standard piloting positions ::hoho :datass :LOS :suzuhiko

I've seen some pages of Yabuki's manga adaptation, and it is glorious with its in-your-face audaciousness. The lewdness is taken to an impressive extreme, and I'm left wondering why the anime is holding back so much in comparison. All in due time, I suppose/hope.

02 is a fun character. Love it when she says Darling. Will call her Knee-san until she gets a name.

    They're official links,
So it should be fine with DCMA claims,
    I think
If not, I'll take em down.

I could honestly do without it tbh lol. It looks like the positions of the pilots.. is it basically the girl sticking her butt up like the Code Geass ones and the guys are just behind them lol..

Also did anyone notice the X and Ys on their uniforms :lmao I saw someone mention it on twitter haha

Their titles are actually a reference to flower sex iirc. So if it looks/feels sexual it seems that is the intention.

Once we get a more animated view of the doggystyle piloting form,
I'm making a new sig of it with the caption that says,
    "TRIGGER SAVING ANIME, AGAIN!!!"

Animation wise, I loved it. Composition of certain shots were good. A lot of secondary motion (hair) so I'm assuming Megumi Kouno will be heavily involved in this anime. I enjoyed the parts that Imaishi clearly took control (the reveal of the synchronized unit -- I forgot the name). Give me Gunbuster 3, you fucking cowards.

002 and the girl who looks like Cocona from Flip Flappers are best girls.

Oh yeah, this reminds me, this is like the first time I've seen mechs with animu eyes since Diebuster. At this time, I wouldn't be willing say it's the spiritual successor, but it is pretty neat to see that design choice again.

I have no clue what happened in that first episode, but it was hype and I can't wait for the nest ep.

It was good. If they can keep this level of quality for the entire show, it will be fun.

Enjoyed the hell out of the first episode, didn't know what to expect when I picked it up, saw some interesting character designs, mechs and triggers name. Glad it lived up to those expectations :caticon

    It was surprisingly good.

I consider myself not a big fan of Trigger's work(re-watching KlK to give it another look see), so I was a little hesitant to pick this up.

It was fun though. Definitely going to keep with it for at least a couple more episodes.
