Without weed and other drugs, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Bob Marley etc. would not have been inspired to make the kind of music that they made. So, without drugs, what would modern music be like today?

Actually music and mind altering substances have been intertwined as far back as tribal drumming and worshipping of the Gods.

It's almost impossible to disconnect music from drugs...

Where it would be without them is hard to imagine as so little of our music has NOT been influenced by drugs, or by previous music which was affected by drugs....

I'm not saying anything of the sort.

I know plenty of good musicians who don't drink or do drugs.

I'm merely pointing out that anyone who is anti-drugs should stop listening to most music then, because the two are intimately interconnected throughout the evolution of society and music.

Drugs put things in alternate perspectives, that's pretty much the only reason to do it.

    That and pleasure, and munchies.

I'd like to make a reservation on one of those t-shirts as well plz lol.

Anyway, without drugs, modern music would not be as it is today. And that means...Many musicians are dependant on drugs to push the limitations...I'm sad now...

They're not dependant on, they simply prefer it since it's the easiest way.

I'm still kind of demoralized, all the musicians I look up to made their stuff through drugs. Sad...Sad...Sad...Oh well, as long as I don't die the way Hendrix did I'll be happy:p

Theres nothing wrong with drugs every 2 years or so for ideas. Its like how Rock Lee unlocks some of the 8 gates in times of emergencys or something. Tapping into the power inside you already have, and the longer you do it the more damage caused on yourself.

Yeah. Drugs are like the gates.

    :oh

Anyways, if you count alcohol as a drug, which you should, you'd be hard pressed to find many musicians who've never done any drugs. XD

I think the drugs have more to do with the anxieties of being a musician than with making the music itself. It's a lifestyle kind of thing. At least, that's what I think.

Haha. I'm gonna need one of those shirts, too.

I think, without drugs most of our most influential artists in the past 70 years will not have exsisted and we'd be stuck with bands like Fall Out Boy and Panic! At the Disco.

Ugh...so true...so ironic, well, I'm not gonna be taking up drugs any time soon, one can only hope he doesn't become Fall Out Boy (how the hell are they emo anyway...? Fucking music press.)

If you want to know why Fall Out Boy is EMO. Then I got the perfect thing for you to read.

    Enjoy.

If we didn't have cocaine, we wouldn't have Rick James.

But seriously, most popular musicians have had some encounter with some gateway drug. I guess weed could give them some ideas in their lyrics, wouldn't be surpised if Doom smokes a lot since he has some crazy lyrics. Not a bad thing or anything.

Are you kidding? I could find a weed reference every other song. "American's Most Blunted"?? Let's not even get into Madlib. The first Quasimoto album was done while on 'shrooms, no joke. And yes, you can tell. lol

I don't see how using drugs as an influence for music would be a "sad" thing though?

EDIT: I just pimped this album for Sharingan, but this always made me laugh.

"Do you wanna get hiiiiiiiigh man?"
"Does Pinocchio have wooden baaaaaalls man?"

Gotta love the Blues Brothers of Hip Hop

    Actually fuck that noise.

I started with LSD, I've crossed through almost all of the major illegal drugs available, and I will stick to shrooms and weed now.

Atleast with those two I don't get bleeding noses, bleeding gums, bleeding ass or bleeding eyes.
