As the title says do you fear it?

As for me......Kinda :wink the fact of leaving all the ones I love is kinda scary though I might be reunited with the ones I,ve lost. Thought the fact I can't still be the ones I'm currently amongst is saddening too.

As an atheist I proabably should, but, I have no fear at all when it comes to death.
I guess that it's because I see death as a release from a difficult existence. When I think of death, I look forward to the fact that never again will I have to go through the struggles and torment that I have gone through in this life, even if this means the end of my own existence.

Considering that right after I graduate I'm going to immediately try and enlist into the Marines and go in as Infantry, that should tell where I stand on the issue of it.

Of course I do, and if you don't then you're either much wiser than I am or you haven't thought about it very hard. The prospect of complete non-existence is extremely grim. Whenever I envision death I keep looking at it from a third-person perspective - I derive some sort of comfort from watching how things play out after I die, watching the people at my funeral, thinking that I'll still have some sort of consciousness or be entering some new phase. But I won't. Death is the end of the line.

    That's pretty creepy to me.

I think that many people here aren't afraid of death because they've come to terms with it.

I disagree. I fear death. Dying would probably be unpleasant - but as far as I'm concerned, you die and then cease to be. I'd rather burn in hell than simply stop existing. If you don't believe in an afterlife and you're not afraid of death, you're either not thinking about it hard enough, or you're enlightened. I do not see how anyone could be content with the idea of completely and totally disappearing.

The thing I treasure most is conciousness. After death, there is nothing. At all. That's a scary thought.

I do not fear death itself, for I believe it's not the end but a new beginning of something else.

As i'm not fearing death, I do fear not to be here anymore to accompany friends, and do fun stuff with friends or family. There are just to many things left I wanna do over here, but I can't say I fear it.

Death itself isn't that scary if you don't think about it too much

Who wouldn't? At least those who don't enjoy life...

As for me, the happier I am, the scarier death is. I have no problem with being dead (I don't fear hell or the void...); what I have a problem with is not being alive. I want to study philosophy more, I want to go out with that girl, I want to enjoy so much more things.

Hell no. I don't fear death, I fear the things immediately preceding it.

Be it slow gradual pain, the long fall before the sudden stop, looking down the barrel of a gun, or just saying "Is that really a tiger?"

    2 things.

    1. Read my quote, realize that you will always have that feeling. You fear death.

    2. Carpe Diem

The act of dying itself and leaving the world I am in currently does not concern me. However, BEING dead does bother me, mostly because I do not have any solid idea of what will be there waiting for me, and really, I always have had the tendency towards thinking about the negative possibilities as opposed to the positive ones.

yes everyone has feared death one time or another, though it is just another part of life and a road which we all must cross someday and there is no way around it, thus just accept it and make your time on earth a memorable one so when you finally leave this world you will have no regrets and can be in peace.

First of all, I'm atheist so nobody thinks I'm part of a sect.

In my opinion there is no actual death. Let me explain it:
There are two levels of existence, the micro- and the macro level.
Micro level is the level of individual beings made of biological material.
Macro level describes the amount of all the existing biological material.

When I will die, I will vanish as a individual being, vanish as the human I was but I won't disappear. The time where insects will come and eat my rotten body I will become part of them. So I keep alive, not as a indivual but as "the life" I am.
In my opinion it's a circle of life without actual death(=vanishing forever) but as a form of transition.

What I#m really more afraid of is getting forgotten by the people who knew we.
