    Oh really? Please enlighten me.

You might remember my realization before that the 2024 Olympics will be the 700th Olympiad, if extrapolateing from the ancient ones begun in 776 BC.

I forget which one has issues, the 2022 or 2026.

But some cities are getting less enthusiastic about holding the event.
Which partially explains why the 2026 will be held in two countries instead of just 1. The notion of plowing and paving neighbourhoods every 4 years is not sustainable and it be better for countries to share the load or have a few permanent locations around the world that you can just rotate to.

Beijing 2022 followed by Stockholm 2026 would be amazing.

    :bury

Italy already had 2006, get in the back of the line. :notrust

Looks like you got ties with the right countries.

In all honesty, Vatican City should host the Winter Olympics or FIFA in the 2030’s.

I want to note again that Brexit is a huge crisis, but at least it's important. This is the most important decision in decades for the country.

In comparison, the US is fighting on who can play with the top hat.

Well Texas used to be part of Mexico. So in a sense, if Texas pays and builds the wall, then he would be right for having said Mexico was going to pay for it. :noworries

He is willing to let this drag on.

If Trump funds Texas specifically it technically is not allocating money for the border wall in the budget. In addition it also means the wall can not be build in a short period of time either and in addition the funding can be withdrawn from a potential next congress and president. can simply stop the funding and the project dies.

A way out for both sides in my opinion.

Totally, but we should probably do India first since they're the largest economy that hasn't had the Olympics before.

Olympics generally, since neither Indonesia nor India has much of a winter sport track record.

Actually I can see how the Divine Will argument is persuasive to some.

"How do you know that Wahhabism is the true form of Islam?"

"Why, look at Saudi Arabia! Do you think they could get that prosperous without God on their side?"

"They're prosperous because they have oil, dude."

"Well, who do you think put the oil in the ground for them? Who made the Earth if not GOD?"

"But the oil was there millions of years before Saudi Arabia, or even Muhammad, existed."

"God is all-knowing and makes very long-term plans! Of course he could bless Saudi Arabia before Saudi Arabia existed!"

    ---

So it'll be good when Saudi Arabia runs out of oil and can't claim divine blessing anymore.

Watching this all I can think about is: the wheel isn't Medieval. The wheel came much, much, much, much, much before the Medieval Ages. I mean, different Historiographies are bound to have different Periodisations, but however you look at it, even if you consider the Medieval Ages to be started by the time of Augustine's(Saint Augustine of Hippo) writings, it would only go back as far as 5th Century of the Common Era (Or, for the more christian-prone Historiographies, after Anno Domini) . By comparison, there were wheels at around 3000-4500 Before the Common Era (BCE).

Which means, Trump is not only wrong, he is off by more than three thousand years and it shows his complete ignorance of basic History periodisations . " Very stable genius ", indeed.

Wheel is earlier but reliable axle come much more later.

Edit. I mean axle and stuffs that make wheel useful (bearing etc)

Yeah, but the basic functions including both transportation and the use of the wheel for manual and semi-manual labor were still there.

Well if Texas republicans are also willing to deal with the barrage of lawsuits from private landowners as well as the huge political fallout following, then sure, let them build the wall.

It´s not about whether its actually gonna be build. It´s about a way out of this stalemante. And with giving it into Texas hands who have to deal with all the consequences and stalling Trump delivers partially on his promise and the Dems deliver partially on their veto.

A win/win without the wall actually being build anytime soon

But Trump likely isn't into a win win scenario. He's into zero sum games where he can only win if the other loses. If that's his stance regarding his foreign allies its certainly his stance towards his domestic political enemies.

He however sees that in this specific topic with these specific enemies at this specific time his zero-sum mentality doesnt work. Thats why he is maneuvering a lot on technicalities like fencing, steel, concrete, how its being paid etc. etc.

Relocating the entire battle to a different battlefield as a whole does prevent him from suffering a loss, albeit it doesnt result in a win either. The problem would then be adjourned in a way and both sides walk away with a black eye so to speak but neither side has gone nuclear.

I'm not. The idea of a president declaring a state of emergency just as a power grab is a scary one that sets bad precedents in the future.

Combine that with the general unwillingness of the Republicans of actually acting against Trump makes a bad combination.
