Dragonball Convo #1: Le N?18 !
Dat dank propaganda
Saw on the Toei animation website.
A new series called "Dragon Ball Super" ( It's the Kanji "Chou" / Super like in Super Saiyan )
It's supposed to start in July, following the end of Dragon Ball Kai Majin Buu.
Following the huge success of "Revival of F", a new Dragon Ball series was decided.
The story is set after Majin Buu.
Goku, Gohan, Goten, Trunks and Vegeta returns in an all new, never before seen adventure.
See you un July !
I was hoping they might retcon to make Super Cyan to just be Vegeta's version of SSG.
Though, I'm more used to SSGSS now, so I don't mind it now.
I like it, personally.
Who has dibs on the new convo?
Red doesnt match Vegeta at all, .
Yeah, and we don't have any indication that Monster Carrot didn't land on a random planet after Roshi blew up the moon and trained to become stronger than SSJ3 Goku, but we both agree that if he suddenly showed up and was that strong, it'd be stupid.
Basic storytelling demands that things be set up or at least foreshadowed before coming to pass; at least things that could possibly be contested by the audience for some reason.
It is, though. When it's established that Roshi no longer has any desire to train, having him suddenly show up a decade or so later stronger without ever having even hinted that he was back at it is malarkey. I can cite reasons why he wouldn't have started training again...where are these reasons that he would have?
Nothing would have been different. It would have been the same asinine situation as this one.
We also knew that he'd stopped training before the 23rd Tenaichi Budokai, and that there was zero indication that he'd resumed.
I mean, was there even a line in the RoF movie to justify his being stronger? Like someone saying "oshit, how did Roshi get this strong" and him saying "what, did you guys think I just watched yoga videos all day?"
and I mean, this really isn't the biggest deal in the world--I don't want to give the impression that I think it is...
I just think it's silly
i just want a new convo
I believe Toriyama stated Roshi was always as strong as he was in RoF. He just didn't bother to ever fight seriously.
Half-assed explanation to be sure, but it proves that he didn't train at all to become as strong as he did in RoF.
So Roshi has been toying with all of his opponents
I always wondered why he didn't go into his buff form vs. them but i always assumed it would reduce his speed.
wow, that's an even worse justification
this shit really is bottom of the barrel
That's pretty bad even for modern Toriyama
like, I hope you're just remembering that wrong
because that's wholly indefensible
Dragon Balls franchise as it is now is a complete joke
Link for that?
Wish Goku learns to use the Dragon Fist while training with Whiz.
Sorry, but that's definitely what Toriyama said. It's a statement from him in the Volume of F book.
This is the best I've got for a link to a direct statement.
I've also got a post from Herms from Kanzenshuu talking about it.
huh. I guess he just didn't feel like really fighting when the Earth was threatened by King Piccolo or by the Saiyans. Understandable, I guess.
He really could have just stomped Piccolo Diamaoh
r0fl shit on raditz deep
what about saiyan saga Vegeta?
i don't know if i should place the soldiers a bit above or below saiyan saga Vegeta
The Freeza movie became stupider than it already was after that revelation...
The only way to get rid of this plothole is just not letting Roshi fight, replace him with Yamcha.
Since Gohan is the new whooping boy then Yamcha will finally win a meaningful fight?
welp didnt think it was possible for the new movies/DBS to get any worse
I love me some Roshi fighting of course, but this "explanation" is below GT level
Since it seems like no one really cares about who won, just gonna keep this as the thread.
What an half arsed explanation, damn you Toriyama.
If u change the title thread to Toriyama is a hack/overrated or something like that, I bet most people here will love u .
So Roshi just let Raditz and Nappa run rampant because he "didn't feel like" stopping them?
What kind of bullshit is that? Holy crap, even by Toriyama's standards that's a pretty God-awful excuse and explanation. It's basically a retcon.
If a new enemy appears that is stronger than Beerus (Tori's Sue Char) don't be surprised if a few weeks later he gives the same bullshit excuse of him "Not feeling like fighting."
Just wow. >___>
Its probably one of the few things Ive disliked in the last movies.
But it can fixed easily if Roshi doesnt fight in DBS.
It could happen, DBS removed the stupid Trunks/Mai romance.
Good point, I guess we'll just have to see.
I really, really, really hope Roshi is retconned out of Super RoF.
