It's a thread to Learn Dutch. Not talk dutch. At least translate your text next time.

    He said:

Watskeburt is a mess up of Wat is er gebeurt? Which means: What has happened?

Grappig idee, eens zien hoe dat verloopt.
Funny idea, let's see how it turns out.

"Verloopt" Can be translated in a few ways. But turns out seems to be the most appropriate translation.

Okay, so question: When you're translating English to Dutch, would it always have the same number of words? Ex.Would "When you're translating English to Dutch, would it always have the same nu,ber of words?" have 15 words in Dutch too?

Well not always. In many cases it has. In long sentences it will change though because we have a pretty strange grammar. I'll make the sentence again in english to make you see what the words mean in Dutch.

    (translated)
Wanneer je engels naar nederlands vertaald, heeft het dan altijd het zelfde aantal woorden?
    (word meaning)
When you english to dutch translate, does it (dan = a grammer add it means 'then' in english ) always the same amount words.

As you see the grammer from a direct translation from dutch to english sucks.

Hm, Its a bit to difficult to explain plainly in a pst, you'll have to use whole pannels to explain the translating of sentence completely...

i agree, dutch is supposed to be the most difficult language in the world (or so i heard). if you try to learn it to someone or learn it yourself you should start with words and work yourself up

in that case it will be alot easier to learn

p.s. also remember that you will only see how to write dutch words, not speak it, that is different from writing

On the contrary. Dutch is one of the easiest Latin-based languages in the world. I teach Dutch at a professional language centre and in my experience, my students find it relatively straightforward.

Initially, the structure of Dutch sentences seems odd, though once you look into it, there is a clear structure, which once you've grasped becomes easier. There is a relatively low amount of grammatical exceptions.

Verbs are probably the easiest of all languages, childsplay or as they say in Dutch: 'A child can do the laundry....'

I've been learning languages for about 15 years now, trust me when I say that Dutch is a lot easier than most other languages.

Fuck off b00ntard, those words don't mean what you say they do >.>

@Dreams: Dutch isn't exactly a mix of German and English, but they are all Germanian languages. There's a certain dialect in Holland called 'Twents'. It's strange but even if you can't speak German, if you speak Twents to a German person who lives near the Holland-Germany border they'll understand you.

For the first word: you mean "schommelen" which means like "rocking" like in a rocking chair or "swinging" like on a rope or swing OR "chocomel" which is just "chocolate milk"?

Edit: looking at your word again..I think you mean "schommelen"

Second ...well..there is no dutch translation for pwn. So it would just be "Ik pwn jou"
