So, who here has read Christopher Paulini's Eragon? That was a really good book. Surprisingly, even though he incorporates the redundent idea of elves and dwarves and whatnot, the book retains it originality and own special spark. Personally as a fellow writer, I felt so jealous of his talent to write such a great novel when he was fifteen.

So, what do you guys and girls think about the novel? And does anyone know when Eldest is coming out?

...that would want to make me not read it too. Especially since there are what, 2 dragons so far.

It's a pretty good book, I'll give Mr. Paolini that. But it's a pretty good rip off of Lord of the Rings if you look at the names, races, etc.

Nontheless, I'll read the next book.

I picked it up once but his writing style didn't engage me so I never actually got past the second chapter. I hear it is a really good book so maybe i'll pick it up again one day.

I read the first one it was good some cliche yet I liked how they added a "mind bending" twist to this story like communicating with dragons and other stuff

I loved this book. Eragon was very creative and so interesting to read. Eldest (the sequel) was amazing as well.

My younger brothers like this book . I gave it a try this summer . I think it's quite a good read. Eldest is fine, there're some unpredictable twists

I don't read much Fantasy. I have to say the only reason I took Eragon to read was that the author was not much older than me when wirting it. I was curious. I don't think it's anything so special, but it's nothing so bad either. Just enjoyable and easy to read. But I know form what my firends, who read fantasy a lot, that it's just a total ripof everything. One guy who is a Star Wars fan almost predicted the whole content of the Eldest after havinbg read Eragon. I know, I'm totally jealous, for I'm writing various things since I was 7 and was never able to finish anything. But Aragon is nothing so special. I enjoyed Eldest, for it gives us Roran point of view. I hate when the book is told ,,from third person" and focuses only around the main character. Like in Harry Potter, we don't know what is Ron htinking, what is Hermione thinking, just everything focuses around Harry. Anyway, I';m gonna read Book 3. I wonder is the ending is original.

I liked both books, but it is clear without knowing the author's age that he was quite young. On top of that, a lot of concepts were copied from Lord of the Rings; especially the perfect distant and cold elf lady. >.>

I thought that the first book Eragon was a little better than the second book, Eldest. They were both good. does any one know when the third book is coming out? I'd really like to know.

Yeah, it's going to be out this year I believe.

I liked the Eragon book(s), but it felt kind of hollow. Not nearly in the same class as LoTR but still a good book.
