I don't really tend to pay enough attention to have a firm opinion on this, but I've liked Cuba Gooding, Jr. in everything he's appeared in.

Believe it or not, Johnny Depp. Yes, he's good-looking, but that's not it...

When I was watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, it suddenly hit me that Johnny Depp was playing the slightly eccentric Willy Wonka on the screen...! I mean, I already knew, but he just takes you *into* the character so deep that you don't even realize it's Johnn Depp at first.

Not like with Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt. Everytime they do a movie, I'm like, "Oh, it's so-and-so, played by Tom Cruise / Brad Pitt!" Those guys will always just be their faces, you know?

I also like Jonathan Rhys Meyers, mostly because of his portrayal as Elvis. Was pretty good, if you ask me. :)

  4. Of all-time, probably Al Pacino. A today's actor, I'll say (without thinking too much) Denzel Washington.

Gregory Peck. The man was a truly amazing actor and it's always a thrill seeing whatever movie he was in.

Christian Bale. He did a great job portraying a more human and realistic Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins. Plus he was hella intimidating as Batman.

Ethan Hawke, he's just so talented and incredibly sexy. Also, Tom Hanks because he's very versatile. Bruce Willis, Ewan McGregor, and Orlando Bloom.

Toshiro Mifune - There's an intensity in his performances that transcend the language barrier. Facial expression, posture, a distinctive stroll, and slight movements that convey feelings or intentions that other actors would have to tell us. Plus, he's a badass.

Johnny Depp deserves credit, too. That guy really does his research before taking on a role and adds a unique style to all of his characters. He lived in Hunter S. Thompson's basement for six months in preparation for his role in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and played the paranoid drugged-out gonzo journalist better than any contemporary actor could have.

If the deceased count then definitely Bruce Lee, shouldn't need to explain why. :noworry

If not, then I'd say Christian Bale. He did an amazing job and Batman Begins and was absolutely great in American Psycho.
