will royal edition include the ardyn ep then? or do you also have to pay extra?
Honestly? I've seen comapanies that basically make JRPGs for fan service make better, more skill based, and in depth combat than FFXV.
AND even level design that is large but with an actual purpose for being large.
Am currently playing one with big ass levels that hide some VERY good stuff, you need certain abilities to get it that you unlock via certain quests, all of which promote full exploration of that area. Not every map is huge but they all have hidden spots early on that you don't get access to so easily.
It's a tiny niche as hell JRPG dev and they've demonstrated that they can tie all their mechanics and world together so seamlessly albeit with the usual cliches.
And nevermind the Legend of Heroes series, which I think craps on even older FFs.
well what game is it
Omega Quintet, which is largely for fanservice is still better than FFXV. Sad but true. Maybe not graphically but it has more endearing characters, a less convoluted better paced plot, waaaaaay better combat like WAY better, and all of its exploration has meaning.
Sounds silly just seeing myself type it but it's true. A company that isn't even trying to make great JRPGs can do several individual JRPG things better than FFXV did.
Welp... you asked for it. It doesn't really show the combat all that well though...
It sure isn't an amazing JRPG by any stretch of the imagination... but at least the combat has actual depth and the exploration is rewarded with worthwhile rewards.
Something that FFXV had some pretty fair issues with. Exploration in that game was more driven by how pretty a given area looked.
Didn’t expect you’d be into monster slaying lolis
Dude. My name is Nep Nep.
You have to pay for ardyn episode separately.
FFs up to X were almost always legendary tier .
I found X as linear and almost as dull as 13 quite frankly.
Tidus is no more likable than Lightning or Snow.
Yuna's fine. Wakka is insufferable and his design makes me cringe. Lulu's fine.
I actually never could finish it all the way I always just get bored at some point through it.
While I know X-2 isn't a good FF, it still had more engaging game play. I like FF job combat a LOT and free exploration to find quests was really enjoyable to me despite the flaccid story and weak characters.
12 I literally quit after the first combat section and shelved the game until giving it to a friend. Not a single FF combat system I despise more.
4,5,9 are my faves still.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who thought this.
If you have an unpopular opinion about a game series... I'm your man.
Hey man. Fuck you for agreeing with my previous post. ....
*Agrees with your previous post*
i remember buying 12 because i thought it was 7 (xii versus vii lol)
so i was so confused that i didnt see cloud or anyone
i remember it wasnt that fun though, like the first tomato gig where you go in the desert, was dreadful
didnt play after a while, and then i replayed and got to this difficult boss in some temple thing, but got stuck, and i really dont like grinding because idk it's just tiresome. so idk. i should go level up a lot, since i tend to just run past the fodders. this was like almost 10 years ago.
then i purchased the the ps4 version about a year ago and tried to get into it again, but i ended up getting stuck around the same part as last time haha. and yeah didnt wanna deal with grinding.
but i like the characters, and the story seems interesting, but yeah i got stuck so idk what happens next.
i actually really like ffxv combat, but thats cuz i grew up with kh, im not a command turn based fag.
but even then ffxv is just really button mashy, like kh lol. not much strategy. and can be a bit.. clunky??? like if you wanna dodge quickly and shit you cant really do that type of stuff, or jump and shit
What does having an appreciation for more strategic turn based have to do with it?
FFXV is a piss poor action combat system. The dodging isn't well rewarded, enemies have tediously long attack patterns and the game's idea of difficulty is to one shot you all the time.
It's hard to enjoy cause it really doesn't reward even the slightest skill. Warp atrike and magic spam is he best way to deal with things.
Otherwise it's like trying to keep a 20 foot worm from wriggling.
woah no need to get offended i just said im not that into turn based while others were discussing turn based games lol relax
That is relaxed. I simply said whether you like turn based or not is irrelevant.
FFXV combat objectively sucks as action combat. It may be flashy but it's actually less mechanically sound then KH 1.
Any and all vitriol in that post is directed at FFXV for failing on so many levels. Not you.
so youre saying that my opinion (that im not that into turn based) is "irrelevant" on a forum. i mean the whole point is we share our opinions and thoughts on things. :\\ just because you dont like my opinion doesnt make it "irrelevant" if i wanted to share it ill share it.
no harsh feelings though i know you meant well just in a sad mood rn
I meant it's contextually irrelevant to the situation not as a whole.
Xiii combat system wasn't bad at all.
Yes it was. Just as easy to break too. Basically one strategy works for every SINGLE fight. Sab Vanille, Rav Lightning, Com Fang.
Once everything's infected and debuffed to shit, let Vanille help with guage increase, then fuck them to death with Lightning and Fang.
It's sad to say but FF has a problem lately with horrible enemy design. They're either kill in your sleep easy or only one specific ass strategy is really effective.
Coupled with the poor combat and well... If you don't have good combat you can't be a good JRPG, action or turn based.
I've seen amateurs evolving FF enemies better than FF evolves their enemies.
episode ardyn is supposed to come out today/tonight, but how do we get it?? can we purchse the dlc on amazon or something??
also, if we dont have royal edition or the other dlc, is there a way to buy the other dlc? or do i have to get royal edition to play that now? i think royal edition is cheaper i heard, but i dont want to have to wait for the disc to arrive, would rather juts download it
It has ended not with a bang or whimper, but rather a simple whisper...
No, it ended with me screaming into the ether in that the story is completely pointless from top to bottom.
Combat wise Ardyn is pretty fun.
Story wise it's meh. Did not like the revelation at the end
Modern Square Enix for you.
