I've had generations of solitary bees living in my horse stall structure. A hole directly over my horse's feed station has been inhabited by a bee for quite a few years. The bee comes flying in during evening feeding time so I often see it coming home for the night.

We have plenty of wasps, large and small around here. I really like the big black ones. They are actually quite docile (I rescue them with a cup catch when they accidentally get trapped in the house). We had a family of 'sisters' build a nest in our back doorway one year and they never bothered us--even when we pressure washed the house around them.

Some had built a nest in our golf cart recently (not the ideal spot, but we weren't using it). My hubby was doing some carpenter work on the car port right below them and one wasp stuck her head out of the cart's fringe and watched him, but didn't at all get upset. Wasps are much nicer than hornets, who just attack you in mass for hardly any reason.

Hornets are killers... Especially asian hornets!
