i like paperbacks coz they're cheaper and certainly lighter. It's not advicable but I read lying down on my bed so hardcovers and too heavy to hold up. I had a hardcover fall on my face once and i gave me a black eye no kidding. LOL

i guess i prefer hardcovers. don't know why. maybe it's cause they keep better. like paperbacks tend to get folded and creased. also hardcovers look nicer.

It depends. Like when you go somewhere and want to carry something to read, then a paper back. To me, I buy paper back first. Then if I found out it was an extraordinary book which I won't get bored, I will buy it in hardcover to keep it. All of my classics and alltimefavorite are in hardcovers. But the nonchalant fictions or romance books??? Paperback. Used one sometimes to test.

Given the price of hardcover, I will usually buy paperback. If it's a book that I know I'll be keeping as part of an important collection, I will purchase it in hardcover, but usually only if I can find a bargain. Pretty much like zionforsell above.

I prefer paperback, except for the Harry Potter books. All my HP books are hardcover and I prefer it that way.

Hardcovers seem prettier but I sitll find paperbacks more versatile, they can bend...and twist...and...um.

    edit: oh right, they're lighter

it depends really for me, if its part of a set and i buy a hardcover for the first one i go hard cover all the way, same with paper back. though most of them end up being papaer back.

Mostly paperback because they are easier, cheaper, and I wouldn't mind them being stained. I also like to make creases in the spine of the book by folding it...can't do that with hardback.

I prefer paperback because they're less expensive, though I must admit I buy quite a few hardcover books because a certain someone in my house sometimes destroys the paperbacks.

I buy Hardbound books when I have cash to spare
but usually when I'm in a bit of a bind financially I tend to buy the Paperback ones...
so I guess like both Hardbounds and Paperbacks equally ^ ^

paperbacks are way much easier to read, hardcover books makes the front cover & backcover all scratched up & such if you don`t take good care of it. like me :p .

Paperback. That way I can stuff it in any spot. Being cheaper is another reason. =P

I prefer paperback but if a book is only in hardback, so be it. I like to read anywhere, so paperback is nice on the go and stuff.

Paperback all the way. Its more easy to handle and putting 'em in backpacks or whatever is much easier.

Usually paperback - then I can buy more books for the same cost - but hardcover if I really like the book, or I don't have the patience to wait for it to come out in paperback.

Well... Hardback comes out sooner, looks nicer but is heavier... Paperback Is lighter, cheaper, but you have to wait... So... Depends I guess...
