Don't know anything about the letters, other then they look better then the alphabet.

As for words: not sure of the spelling but heard something like: Naidi goga loogh(likely extremly far from the real spelling)

It should mean something like "you smell like hippo"

aww, i've been studying chinese for about half a year, 4-12 hours a week. I can write about 200 characters, but my course was all about speaking... It's the pronounciation that's hard, not the signs, IMO. What do you think?

I keep hearing that its Either 土 or 地 for dirt, which is it?

well thats Because China and America are good friends

I should have just put one there
yes its dui/budui but shi is sometimes used in a yes or no question like if someone said "are you hungry?" You could use Shi or bushi

oh yeah sorry I meant WEN but put GUO instead

Mei you guan she 谢谢! 哥哥!! for without your corrections how will I learn?

and SPIKE its "hay" Not "gay"

    1) 土 well this one is a name of an ELEMENT. To be super-correct please use 地球 for The Earth (dì qiú). All geography-related things also have the 地-di sign in them. You shouldn't confuse those two signs.

    2) not really :). It's a shortened version of America in Chinese :D. Nobody uses the old word anymore. But they chose nice signs :nod!

3)shi/dui - as I said, it depends on the sentence, but in the example you provided 'shi' means 'to be'. "Are you hungry?" "(I) am!" - the Chinese shorten everything. So this is how it goes. And Bushi means "is not". It's a negation used in sentences, to which the question contains the word "to be".

    4) :hug!

I don't know chinese, but since I can read Japanese, I can sometimes guess the meaning of chinese words.

There's a catch. You can read and understand the signs, but you'll be never able to pronounce them. I wonder why it's like this.. The words in Japanese and Chinese have the same/similar signs, yet they are pronounced completely different! Even surnames..

Mei guo IS the word currently used. But in my classes when I learn the history of a language there was this old fashioned word for America. Part of it was "mei guo" and it's what's used nowadays. I just wanted to say that the origin of the word is not a "beautiful country", it was a phonetic translation and it turned out PRETTY :D

Your grandma is funny then :D. !

ah yes the PRC during 1920s and 40s it was a more simpler time where you could get killed by Opium dealers, Manchurian overlords, and Occupying British forces all in the same day just because you wanted to better your country

I wasn't talking about accent but about tones. It's difficult to get them correct at the first try.

    Anyway, Chinese = :love

It's still hard for me, but when you know what they're talking about it's easier because you can predict some words, like when you're talking about sports and hobbies the "ma" you hear is probably a horse (though that's easy to tell, but you get what I mean, right? :))
