don't know if it's been discussed but how strong do you think kakashi would've been if he went on an all out training despite obito's death. The comic kind of said Kakashi started slacking off a bit since obito's death. Actually it was kind of obvious I mean kakashi at age 13 can invent a S-rank maneuver, but then after wards he didn't invent anything.

Just wondering how strong he would've been. Do you think Kakashi could've been stronger than the sannin's or hokage's?

I believe he could have become strong, but he doesn't have the drive or will of fire to become a truly great ninja like the Hokages.

I'm more curious about how much weaker he would be without his Sharingan, his "S-Rank Jutsu" would be useless without it.

Laziness is the key to success, so he would have been substancially weaker. I'd explain how this makes sense, but meh...too lazy.

Well, everyone will master thier craft sooner or later. Kakashi would've probably found another way to hit with raikiri. IE how he killed Zabuza, catch them and kill him.

I mean if you compare him to most genins...he seemed to have been the only one who even INVENTED a move. Everyone just perfected the craft they were born with.

I think he would have become stronger than he is now. Him feeling responsible for Obito's death completely ruined his drive and motivation for self improvement and instead fostered a desire to become more caring and closer to his companions, to try and avoid the same situation.

if kakshi goes all out training and does not teach a team he could be a decent match up against oro and might win too

kakashi is already at his strongest point it doesn't matter if he slacked off. He was an anbu captain so that proves he is strong enough but not strong like itachi or oro

I see Kakashi obtaining the Sharingan as kind of a mixed blessing. It gave him a nice boost in a lot of things but it also weakened his stamina. I'm sure he would have indeed come up with some other way to make Raikiri work, had he kept training rigirously. We know he has the genes to become one of the greatest ninja's ever as his father was quite the legend.

Despite his years of slacking off, I think he's still making good progress though and had he been training non stop, he might have never had time to meet Naruto and co. I think his bond with team 7 helped him do a lot of catching up in terms of training and growing as a ninja.

Without the Sharingan and his guilt over Obito's death, Kakashi would've been a very differnt sort of ninja. He would've become strong, quite strong indeed but would never have made the level of Hokage. The reason is simple, Obito's death and the guilt he carries gives him a reminder of how wrong his ideals were. If he didn't feel responsible, he would have gone on to become an excellent ninja, but one that lacks the will of fire-just as Tsukiyomi said. I think he would been at Itachi's level or a little higher.

I dont think he would become stronger, mastering the sharingan takes a lot of time and effort and he did it and i believe he is stronger with the sharingan then he would be without.

Consider this guys... Kakashi is a freakin genius!

"Kakashi went on to become an elite Jounin(if not the strongest one),learned to use a kekkei genkai what wasn't his, learned more than a 1000 jutsu and became acknowledged all over the fire country making a name for himself and NOT under his father's shadow"... HE DID ALL OF THESE THINGS... SLACKING OFF!!!

Holycrap! Imagine if he had put a real effort to become strong like Oro or ITachi did!! Clearly the potential to achieve that kind of status was wasted... and as years pass by, KAkashi gets older which means less stamina and chakra overall.

    Questions then

-Is he strong? Oh my yes.
-Did he waste hisi potencial to become obscenely powerful? sadly yes, he is not getting younger.
-Could he become as powerful as Sannin/Itachi/Hokage? Yes, but it will take too much time and stamina to do so, so it wouldn't help in battle.

Well, he is very strong already. I think he went a little easy on trainning because he got a sharingan - but lets not forget that he probally had to train a lot to learn how to use that sharingan. The man is better than most Uchiha with that eye; no, he is better with the sharingan than all Uchiha but one (maybe two, but, so far, just one). So, I think he has dedicated his trainning to use the new eye Obito gave him, but he must have worked hard, because he was than famous as the Copy Ninja... When I say he got a little easy, I think it was because when he learned how to use his sharingan, he probally went for many years without finding any worth opponents... If you get so damn good, you will get lazy...
But thats the past. With the MS, I already think Kakashi got legendary...

If he Obito didnt die and he didnt get the sharingan, he probably would have turned out into someone like the 4th or the 3rd, in terms of style. He was already inventing jutsu's so he was gonna be a jutsu specialist either way, had the brains and the genes for it.

Point well taken. :D I totally agree with this one, though I would have thought even if he didn't mean Naruto and Co. He'd have still made an elite Ninja ranking.. possibly to keep up with his father's title or better it. Sharingan was a boost and may have made him a bit lazy in learning more Jutsu on his own, hopefully he can live past his father's title with this known :)

It only weakens his stamina when he is using his Sharingan, once its covered he can still use all the 1000s of jutsu and styles he learned with it. He has already started overcoming the stamina barrier.

As for Raikiri, Yondaime said it was an incomplete jutsu because you can't see the enemies counter. Without the Sharingan I can't see how he would be able to see his enemies counter well enough.

Kakashi wasn't a slacker before he got the Sharingan, the Sharingan made it so he didn't have to work for his jutsu and skills. He just copies the moves and styles that he sees.

I still maintain he doesn't have the will of fire or drive to become a truly great ninja without his Sharingan.

hmm... he proply would of been stronger than Itachi
since he was trained by the strongest hokage the 4th.
but since he died young he couldent teach Kakashi
up to his potential as a Shinobi.
i dunno about being stronger than the Sanins.

Well obviously he would be stronger sannin level perhaps...but then he wouldnt be kakashi. the lazy, perverted, excuse making, never punctual copy ninja that we all know and love. I think kakashi's main theme as a character is that even if you're not as strong as you're enemy you can overcome him by sheer wit and determination if kakashi was super strong I dont think I would like him as an character...he's just you're average super lazy ninja guy...and thats why we love him. You dont have to be the strongest just as long as your fighting for something/someone you care about.

This is also why I like shikamaru.

When it comes to Kakaski & the sharington in respect to have strong he might have become, i see it as being somewhat similar to the curse seal.

    i agree that
the sharington gave him the ability to memorize all those jutsus without really doing the work, without really thinking. he spent that time he would have been creating his own brooding & slacking off. in a very real way, i think it crippled his growth.

^lolz yeah copying jutsu's take like 2 seconds. The sharingan grows as you use it more probably and Sasuke got his in like a few months.

Plus Kakashi's teacher died when he was like around naruto's age I think. Not having people to guide him probably gave him another weak point.

But I liked kakashi gaiden kakashi a bit he was still funny, except he wasn't loving and caring for other people.

well considering the first like 8 episodes of naruto he never passed any team that couldnt admit they were on a team for a reason not to get attention that they could very well die in the field... if i recall correctly he killed them all himself but thats wut the record book said that the 3rd gave iruka that all kakashis trainees were all MIA or KIA

Well, I think he would be similar strenth, its inevidable that he'd have to slack off some, thats what all the powerful ninjas do.....
