Yeah can't fuck with that HXH.

I should probably check out Blue Exorcist eventually. But then again D Gray Man is outselling Gintama and we all know how bad that series is (D Gray Man).

Not necessarily. Togashi is somewhat inconsistent when it comes to the characters colors...

Yes, it's been awfully quiet, lately.

But I have no regrets. At last, the chan can go through another cleansing, and sweep all the superfluous 'fans' and trolls away.

I suppose that is a good point! I guess it wont go completely quiet though, since we got the anime running aswell now and feels like with the manga's last run the section has been more active than ever before...

Though perhaps we'll have all those 'fans' hating on HxH again cause of the hiatus and it all comes full circle once more! :p Just something I've noticed throughout my extensive lurking!

I'll be waiting patiently, not much gets me as excited as when the HxH manga comes back for another brilliant run. However short that may be.. ahem. ^^

Going by the DVD/BD sales chart thread in Konoha Channel 12 the HXH DVDs aren't selling too well. Makes me wonder if it'll get an increase in budget or make it to the Ant arc. :argh

The kind of 'fans' no one needs, I suppose.

    What make 'fans' not needed?
Being a pain in the ass.

Viz added volume 2 of HxH to their digital lineup. Same price as the first, $4.99.

At this rate (one volume every two weeks), it should take slightly less than a year and a half to catch up to the physical releases.

I agree with his "mutating shonens" part. Togashi always, at some points, makes something similar to another manga to show how it should've been done, with his own original style! However, I'm gonna kill that guy because he might've just jinxed the fact that Togashi will end HxH within the year :mad

So any news regarding the hiatus or..the movie? They said Togashi will talk about it in the middle of April and still nothing...

Quite good and going to the essence of what is hxh and why it's so captivating.

Also, his last sentence is spot on:

"It absorbs other shonen manga and spits them back out in strange, mutated forms. "

True. That's exactly what Togashi does.

They'll eventually re-release those OOP volumes digitally. However, I don't think they'll ever re-release the printed copies. I remember some fan-HxH twitter account asking Viz if those OOP volumes will ever get reprinted. Viz said that they were going to check with their distributor to find out what the holdup was. Here's the twitter transcript:

That's as far as the conversation got before Viz stopped responding back. Also, this was back in November of last year, and they still haven't reprinted any of the OOP volumes. On the contrary, volume 18 went OOP about two or three months ago. So unfortunately, unless you're willing to pay four or five times the normal retail price, it looks like the only way you'll get those volumes is to get them digitally.

Which is why i have no qualms getting over on Viz and getting their "content" for free via other means. They treat most of their stuff like shit that isn't Naruto or DBZ.

Thank god I've all of the volumes already (I bought them on amazon, you'll find all of them there). I even own two volume 8 because the first one I bought wasn't in good conditions, so I had to buy another one. ANd yes, some of the volumes were more expensive than the others, but it's all a matter of priorities. As far as entertainment goes, HxH is at the top of my list of priorities, so I had no problem spending my money on it.

I agree that they treat any series that isn't Naruto/Dragon Ball/Bleach/One Piece like shit. Viz said themselves that this series sells poorly, which is probably the reason why they treat this series as badly as they do. But really, what else do they expect? They don't give this series any coverage, they've let at least four of the manga volumes go out of print, and they ignore their fans. How is this series supposed to do well or sell well when they treat it as poorly as they have been? For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Put no effort into advertising or promoting or even supporting your product, and you get poor sales and results in return.

Hunter x Hunter is about as popular as the big three over in Japan, just look at the volume sales. What about outside of Japan? Is Hunter x Hunter as big outside of Japan as One Piece/Bleach/Naruto? No, because it doesn't get advertised, it doesn't get promoted, and it doesn't get supported. It takes years for a single volume to be translated, handfuls of the volumes have gone out of print, and they've stopped selling the DVDs for the older anime adaptation. Viz treats this property very poorly, and because of how poorly they treat it, the popularity and accessibility of this series plummets as a result. Then they have the gall to complain about poor sales. It's their own fault that this series doesn't sell well.

With all of that said however, I completely agree with ZE:

It is absolutely worth it to buy the volumes for HxH, regardless of how Viz treats this series. The translations are fantastic, and by buying the volumes, you're able to support this fantastic series. In addition, the digital volumes are dirt cheap. Viz is selling them for about half the price of the printed copies (only $5). Also, the digital volumes far surpass any scanlations you'll read online. The quality of the Viz scans and the translations are well worth the $5 asking price.

Still, I wouldn't blame anyone for not wanting to buy the volumes (digital or printed).
