Aren't those supposed to be shinobi who kill and die like breathing?

Isn't it even a ninja rule that you never show emotions or tears?

It's the village of Tears, not Leafs! They don't have ninja, only crybaby!

They never do anything ninja-like anyway. They are more like X-men or something.

There is no death and lots of crying in One Piece as well. Since thats what he is complaining about, there are hardly any stories that dont have crying in it. So he/she is just sh*t out of luck.

At least Naruto is gonna be Hokage for sure!

He can do the crying-on-his-knees jutsu!

Ya I remember Sakura saying when they believed Sasuke was dead in the Zabuza Arc that ninjas are suppose to not cry, but she cried anyways. They got some sensative ninjas in that village, or maybe they are not emotional since Naruto knocked sense into each one of them and he was a sensative boy.

actually, oro cried before taking on sandaime & sasuke cried when itachi took out his parents. i doubt even itachi will remain immune to it by series end.

unfortunately for the op, you're likely just gonna have to get used to it... unless, of course, you can stop reading it.

    They only die in flashbacks

Morale of the story: shinobi are human.

Damm Tenshi, in before me with my point *Mutter mumble grumble*

They're still human, These people who have died or they think are dying are their close friends. Wouldn't you cry if your close friend died right in front of you?

Being a really badass fighter doesn't mean you stop being a person.

If you've had enough go away. Read DBZ or something.

Just because Naruto is pretty brutal by western standards doesn't mean that it is aimed for adults. It's aimed for kids and young teenagers. There are no mature themes in it, so don't ever expect them, you are only going to be disappointed.

So ... yeah, stop reading Shounen. Get yourself some decent Seinen manga, like Berserk, or Gantz. Death Note, though technically Shounen, might also be what you are looking for.

Dude you are right. I remember all those lectures about how ninjas arent supposed to show emotions. I mean if you cry every time you enter the fray, maybe it's time to reconsider your job choice. There are other professions in Konoha as seen in the lame carpenter arc. These guys kill for a living (and cookl shit if we are talking fillers), why do they keep getting so emotional? Why are they so afraid to kill.

Good god the whining. I see nothing to complaign about. Infact I'm glad he added it. The majority of shonen manga writers can't do proper emotional reaction to things. And when they do it's usally melodramatic or just feels sappy since the characters so rarely do it.

And what's more, it's not like Shika is crying a river. You see tears welling in each eye. That's it. It's obvious he'e trying to hold his emotion back there but that's not easy when your watching your teacher be killed in front of you.

But I suppose some people would have rather had Shika make a surprised looking face floowed with his head down with him swearing revenge on him with his game face.

There's an entire theme in Naruto dedicated to the fact that shinobi are not just tools, they have human emotions too. That being said, it's not odd to see a fifteen year old kid cry over someone who was his mentor. :/

Personally, I like it. It would be rather boring if there were no emotions involved.

um... does the poster lack reading comprehension skills? you're missing a major theme here..
characters also show emotion for dramatic effect. it's called "storytelling," which is sort of the whole point of what kishimoto's doing...
that said, this wasn't too emo or TOO melodramatic to me, because the characters didn't just sit there and cry for several pages, they tried to act as well. seems real enough to me.
