I have sort of been disappointed with this arc

Easily something I agree with, and I think most people are in the same boat in this regard. Deku as a character, while still very strong compared to most other shounen MCs, pales compared to others like Shouto, nvm Bakugo who's had the best development in the entire series.

Bakugou as the main character would be annoying. Either that or boring. Especially since MOST of his character revolves around "argh, DEKU..." :argh

I agree that Deku needs to have some more moral conflict or something to add to his character, but the people thinking Bakugou would be a good main character is just... :scust

Not every good side character would be a good main character. For example in the pirates of the caribbean movies after the first one they made Jack Sparrow the main character to meh results.

Asta works just fine, despite being a bit annoying at the beginning.

Lol! You can keep Asta. He was so cookie cutter MC that I couldn't take him seriously, let alone care about him.

Deku is different from the usual Shonen protagonist in that he has a more reticent, even timid nature due to being bullied from a young age. Rather than bombastic and thick headed, he is introspective, sensitive and intelligent. These differences drew me into his character and seeing him grow in confidence and come into his own both with his quirk and his personal journey. Deku is my boy in this manga. I can think of no other character in MHA that I would prefer as the MC, as diverse and interesting as they may be.

This arc has no stakes that is my issue with it.

This arc has been okay--I have enjoyed seeing what class 1B can do--but it has come almost to a standstill with these last two piddled out ten second chapters that could easily have been combined.

Only it has real stakes at the last few chapters, and that's when most of the concerns pop up all the sudden.

Lotsa crazy stuff is happening in Black Clover and Kimetsu No Yaiba, who are currently MHA's competitors for their age. It's slowly becoming HST 2: Electric Bugaloo.

It's rough when so little and so stale content is being put out for MHA when other series adjacent to it are doing a lot at the moment.

    Get to Gigantomachia, Horikoshi! :catflip

Comparing a series quality based on current arcs? Yikes. And the bc arc is taking a while. Stopped caring.

Hey, I'm not into the BC characters or the style it is drawn in and I find the battles confusing to follow--but I don't go to the BC section to dis it.

Actually some interesting stuff (at least I find it interesting) is happening in this arc right now, but the way it is being meted out ten seconds at at time is the problem. I'm hoping that Hori gets his act together once he is moved to larger digs and gets back to chapters of a proper length.

Todoroki didn't get shit this arc and Bakugou didn't get any cool new techniques or styles while Deku grows even more powerful :pek

    Does not like :pek

I think Todo has plenty coming up in future arcs. Bakugo led his team to victory. I think that was a good development for him. This arc was a set up for both learning more about Class 1B and taking the next step in Deku's development of OFA. Deku growing more powerful is to be expected. It's what MCs do. :catshrug

Guess rivalry isn't all that important to me. Everyone, even Iida and Ochako, have viewed Deku as a rival at one time or another. I'm more interested in the big picture and how these kids develop into an accomplished and cooperative unit to fight the big bads.

    Edit:
Tell that to Class 1B, who want desperately to prove their mettle and be seen as every bit as good as 1A.
