No because Deku was a nerd who never lifted for most of his life until meeting All Might whereas Lee was training since childhood to achieve his dream.

    No...

And Naruto isnt based on HxH either...

Its like everyone who pushes that stereotype doesnt know what hhonen are and think every shonen is the same show

The 3 shows have almost nothing on common bar an "exam arc" and a tortured rival/friend with family issues for the main character

Thats literally it in terms of similarities

Where people get that Naruto "stole everything" from HxH and where BnHA "stole everything" from Naruto i have no idea

I'm sure Hori was influenced by Naruto and other manga that came before, but Deku and All Might are nothing like Rock Lee and Gai beyond the fact that they have a close relationship as teacher and student.

Didn't Kishimoto actually say Togashi was his favorite Manga author, and that he drew inspiration from him? Are we going to act like it didn't show?

When I was a newbie to Bnha, I also initially compared it to Naruto, so I don't blame others for comparing.:jaeshrug

Thankfully, this series treats the characters much better....so far.

Agreed, this series also better character and story development than Naruto imo.

Also this series has no annoying equivalents of Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura either. Besides Kakashi, I personally despised Naruto's main cast.

When Midoriya went up to Tokoyami to join his team at the sports festival and when he went up to Kirishima to help save Bakugou, it was at that point that I knew this series had more depth.

Unlike Naruto where the each of the teams just stayed in their own group. MHA branches out.

I would say power wise Deku and Naruto in that they have an awesome power that is OP.

Deku though is more problematic because yes he does hurt himself if he goes all out but at least he has the choice to go all out.
Naruto couldn't really control when Nine Tails came out and played at all early which made it much less reliable power especially since it could backfire on his friends.

There are definitely aspects of the story that are inspired by Naruto. Eraser Head is very obviously inspired by Kakashi Hatake, Deku's shoot style is taken straight from Rock Lee's taijutsu style.

It is however, no more based on Naruto than it is Star Wars or Harry Potter or any of the american comic series that also inspired the story.

Most Shounen's have taken inspiration from one another.

But I'm sure Hori doesn't just look at Naruto for inspiration, I'm sure he's inspired by many other stories.

To say MnH is just based on Naruto is false, the stories are hardly similar aside from very minor aspects.

I always considered My Hero closer to One Piece due to how quirks work. In Naruto most powers are tied to a certain set of rules and a pretty conventional elemental system. The Quirks seem more like Devil fruits in that they can be anything ranging from elemental powers to wacky skills like creating a door out of everything or turning people into meatballs.

Kishimoto actually did an interview with Togashi a few years back where he says Kage Bunshin, character's facial expressions, Sasuke, Sharingan, Kirin, Amaterasu & the Uchiha clan were all directly inspired by YYH & HxH

Wouldn't say that Nardo stole everything from HxH & YYH, but it was heavily influenced by them as Kishi himself admitted

Wow a lot of these answers are terrible....

Anyway there is definitely some inspiration here and there but that applies to basically almost any form of written media ever, you're bound to find similarities between stuff because tropes are a thing
