What do sensei's actually teach, because you learn the basics in the academy, then i think isnt it better off having parents teach you e.g I doubt Kurenai is a master of bugs dogs and byakugan, so what does she teach? and Asuma's group besides chouji dont really specialize in taijutsu. so what the hell does he teach them. The things that are logic is Jiraiya as a sensei teching naruto the rasengan and Kakashi teaching sasuke chidori. Other than tha no-one really learns from their sensei

I guess they teach them experience and what it really means to be a ninja. You can't learn that in the Academy. Also they could possibly teach them higher ranked Jutsus like Kakashi did with Sasuke.

Tsuande and Sakura, Gai and Rock Lee.. theres plenty of otheres but that is the point of the sensi. Is it not to teach how to be a proper ninja and it also means they can use kids on missons.

Neji gets his main training from his clan (Byakugan), same with Hinata, Susaske (before Itachi went nuts), Chikimaru (his father uses shadow-jutsu too), Shino (bugs etc.) and so on with most of the Genin. I think the training with the Jounins only serves as experience (except for Lee, Sakura, Naruto and the older Susaske)

Experience, and protection. Also probably to make sure they dont' end up killing themselves by doing something stupid.

They seem to be there to continue teaching the young ninjas during the missions. The academy can't give you real battle experience or mission experience, so the senseis are there to make sure the young ninjas survive while getting the real-life missions and battle experience they need in order to improve.

They teach a variety of things. It all depends on who's teaching, who's being taught, and for what reason. Ex. Gai teaches Lee mainly Taijutsu and Lotus. Kakashi helped Sasuke teach him Chidori and improve his skills. While Tsunade takes Sakura under her wing for healing, etc.

Without senseis missions for young ninjas would likely result in 80-90 % casulties and so because all it really takes is one experienced ninja and 5 minutes to kill off a team of 3 rookies. For example Saskue, Naruto and Sakura would have been wiped out by the demon brothers in the bridge arc while Kakashi took care of them in 2 seconds flat.
Either that or you'd have to overtrain them for years and take extreme baby steps (which would stip be a total wipe if they encounterd a jounin.)

So they are mainly there as tutors, not teachers. They guide their students more than they teach them and keep them safe and on the rigth path to advancement.
