Yeah sad, but realistically she was never going to make the full 8 years.

Might as well write her seat off. Still hope she recovers and lives out her life peacefully.

They most certainly are. They have no idea what she had to do to get where she is. It's hard to become a Supreme Court Justice when you have a vagina.

I really hope she's okay. In this moral vacuum of a government, RBG is one of the final pillars left in the judiciary. If she retires and is replaced with another Federalist Society/ Heritage Foundation stooge its the final nail in the coffin for the Supreme Court's credibility. It will have to be packed next time the Dems get the chance.

    I hope she's alright.

This situation is all around plain awful.

I find it highly disturbing that she didn't get treatment for several hours.

Half of these people cheering will obviously be in the firing line if the court gets heavily stacked. But I guess they'll cheer their own demise if it "Triggerz dem librals".

If she has to retire I just fear for the rights of Women over their own bodies, and also LGBT community for the rights they gained and rightfully so over the past few years.

Gross would be eating gum off the ground or farting in somebody's face, people here are unsightly but gross doesn't seem like the right word.

I was just saying today how tired I was of people misusing the words 'gross' and 'disgusting' in media/social media.

Supposedly she's up and working in her hospital room now. So while nothing's ever certain at her age she's at least on a positive note.

She should take things as slowly as possible. lol if Dems just took the Senate she could retire in peace. This is nuts.

She should hold out until the Dems have both Presidency and the Senate.

That might not be for a long time. 2020 is also a tough map for the Dems, and I'm not sure how they'll win the Presidency back. Lost both Ohio and Florida despite having great candidates in both.

Sorry I'm a debbie downer but I think Democrats are in for a very tough time moving forward.

Maybe. But if RBG retires when Trump is president the Dems having the senate won't really stop him. He would use their resistance as a campaign point, and Republicans would actually vote because of it. Setting them up to take back the Senate in 2022.

Not that I actually like that forecast, but it's the simple truth.

(Granted it would be easier if the Dems just motivate enough people to vote in 2020 to make this a moot conversation. I'm not going to bet on that happening today though. Ask again in 20 months or so)

I think there's a good chance Dems cannibalize themselves in 2020. Warren, Biden and Sanders all are showing signs of being candidates. I think too much Democratic infighting could deflate the party. And they are all old people too smh.

That's why I thought it might just be better for Dems to focus on the Senate.

It's really early to be suggesting who the candidate is/candidates are.

The whole reason the primary exists is for a party to select its representative. While I don't imagine everyone will be 100% happy with who is selected (in fact with the Dems it's pretty much impossible to please all of their members), I don't think they're going to full in civil war over it.

And while there are some media popular names at this point there's realistically 30-40 different names that could be the candidate. Give it a year or so and we'll halve that and can have a reasonable discussion of what 3-8 should actually make an attempt at the primary.

(Iowa's caucus is 451 days away :zaru We'll probably have the list cut down to at most 5 then)

I hope so. I worked on a political campaign in CT and there were a number of people talking about "Bernie or bust." Many activists that I speak to currently also say he is the only person who could possibly win.
