Hi all! You may not know this, but we Kiwis have artists other than Lorde, and for the most part, we're very proud of them. I'm no exception to that, and because I love them so much, I thought I'd spread the love. Therefore, this thread is for you all to post songs by Kiwi artists you enjoy, or, if you don't know any or want to learn of more, to enjoy the songs others post. Our music spans many genres, so I'm sure there'll be something for everyone! :)

So, let's get cracking shall we? Here are a few to start you off. Remember, feedback is appreciated!

Dave Dobbyn - Welcome Home. Quite a mellow song, but I think in today's socially strained atmosphere, the spirit of brotherhood this song conveys bears repeating:

Shihad - Beautiful Machine. Somewhat less mellow, always favourite at parties ;)

The Black Seeds - So True. Back to mellow now. If you've ever seen Flight of the Conchords, you might recognize Bret McKenzie...

Dave Dobbyn - Slice of Heaven. Another one of Dave's! I'm not too sure about how well-known overseas this one is, but let me tell you: every Kiwi knows this one! In fact, sometimes it's called our "second" national anthem! Catchy and chill; what's not to like?

Midnight Youth - Who Said You're Free. Not much to say about this one, just an all-round good song imo

Ladyhawke - My Delirium. It goes against my core to put up anything pop-associated, to be frank... but I figured I should probably post a song that a lot of you stand a good chance of already knowing, lol

Finn Brothers - Won't Give In. As their name suggests, the Finn Brothers are a bunch of brothers... that play music. Go figure, right? Anyway, this is one of their more popular songs

    Fat Freddy's Drop - 10 Feet Tall

Crowded House - Distant Sun. Crowded House is a pretty well-known band internationally, as far as I know, so no introductory collection of Kiwi music would be complete without something of theirs! I could have gone with "Don't Dream It's Over", which is probably their most famous song... but personally, I like this one better

Dawn of Azazel - Swathed in Impurity. Something for you deathmetal fans :rainbowsheep

Right, an even ten songs, that should be enough to get you all started*. I'm sure at least one will strike a chord or two (heh.) I hope this rouses your interest in NZ-made music!

    *more to come
