IS it just me or is the post-timeskip Naruto lacking a lot of humour? Except for the the bell test which lasted one chapter there has been no real laughs. I know the save gaara arc is a serious one but looking back at the haku/zabuza arc (which was also pretty serious) there was some humour in the end; with naruto's kage buushin and naruto trying to eat the food off haku/zabuza's grave (i think thats wot it was)

It would be nice if there was a little more humour in between the akatsuki fights, chiyo and sakura maybe not but naruto/kakashi vs. deidara could really use some, esp. since naruto has been on a kyuubi-high and his usual stupid remarks have been replaced by dead-serious vows to save gaara and very unusual flashbacks between him and gaara which is very un-naruto like.

I know its just a personal preference but i really enjoyed naruto when there was more humour in between the battles. Maybe the series has taken a turn after the timeskip but i hope kishimoto would stick with his roots, especially now akatsuki has been introduced, there would obviously be more death, humour becomes ever more important to provide temporary relief and a change of pace for both the in-story characters as well as us readers.

Kishimoto told us that the second part of Naruto was going to be alot darker then the first part of the series.

Well according to members who ahve read kishimotos view on the second part it is supposed to be a darker tone. Also there is nothing humorus with having to run after some pricks who just might have killed your friend.

    Same thoughts.

It's a contrasted feel compared to "part one" that got a childish (not much) side, that was overexploited in the anime -____-''

Makes you wonder how they'll do Part 2 in the anime.

I like it darker, especially when you consider Gaara's death - someone who Naruto loves like a brother, someone who suffered all his life in loneliness and was killed just when he was trying to change. It's hard to find any humour here, and I could only imagine things getting worse for everyone. I can see utter fury replacing the humour.

how would you like it to be funny?

Chiyo: "Sakura, sorry but you're on your own. I can't use puppets anymore due to my arthritis"

Ofcourse Akatsuki is the most badass group of villains to date in Naruto, So if they use too much humour now, it might just downgrade them.

But we did see some humour when Gai completely forgot who Kisame was.

That's how ALL Shonen Jump stories are. Funny (somewhat) with battles in the first part and then something dark happens and the story loses all humor until the end. Naruto's no different. Just look at Yu Yu Hakusho, Hikaru no Go, Dragonball, Kenshin, etc.

The very beginning after sasuke left was funny. Where Naruto and Sakura meet after 2.5 years and her getting all mad cuz Naruto made a better perverted no jutsu.

Considering this is an arc about saving someone who is already dead and about a old woman wanting to take care of business before she jumps into the grave, there not being an abundant ammount of comedy is only natural.

I've been pleased with the Gai-ness and the Bell Test, though. :amuse

well there is akatsuki humor even though it isn't narutoish.
its still humor like when itachi was told by the leader to give info, or when deidara and sasori were arguing about art, and then the funny description that itachi gave about naruto to deidara and sasori. when everyone went nuts on the whole itachi is blind thing. :laugh

there is gai's constant "who the hell are u again?" :blink
along with kakashi's "i am looking real bad" when naruto lectures him about being on time. :S
kisame "i beat u to a pulp and make u remember" we all know kisame is akatsuki's humor boy, maybe along with smack tongue and deidara.
chiyo's senile attitude and her nice laugh with kakashi when kakashi tells her she is still young. :smile-big

we probably have a lot more humor when everyone of the new chuunins are introduced. the only one who can really keep up the humor here is naruto, and if he goes on the whole must get serious and take out the akatsuki for what they did to gaara road, then we can expect less humor from him and whole lot more anger and rage. its going to get darker and they need to mature in some essence since its only going to be more difficult for everyone now.

Sakura snuffed the hell outta Naruto for being perverted. Though I'm at my limit for how Sakura treats Naruto, that was quite humorous.

No humor? How can you say that when we've had Gai's great antics? XD That was great stuff, with him not remembering Kisame. (As if that's possible! Then again, with Gai, anything's possible!)

Funniest part of Part Two :
Gai: Let's get to the Sand in one day!!
Lee: No sensei, let's get there in half a day!!
Neji: What are they thinking? It takes three days...
Tenten: *Please* stop talking nonsense like that!

LOL! XD Poor Neji and Tenten... they have to deal with those two all the time. XD

Plus, let's not forget Chiyo-baa! "No waaaaaay! I was just playing stupid!" Heh heh, and the part with "I was just playing dead!" was pretty funny too. Plus Naruto and Sakura amazed at Chiyo jumping down from that building. XD

Oh, and it was great how Naruto and Sakura got the bells. That was some great Naruto humor. I especially liked the part where Kakashi was all "I can't watch, because with my sharingan, I can know what he's saying from his mouth movements!"

Oh, and Kakashi freaking out from Sakura's first smashy smashy. Heh heh, it was funny to see him with the circle white eyes, while he was hiding underground. XD

And I liked how Sakura was impressed with "how much Naruto matured," when it seemed Naruto was telling Konohamaru to not do perverted jutsus anymore. XP Instead, Naruto was about to do an even more immature jutsu, somehow. XD

I also thought Inner Sakura's cameo was pretty funny. With Sakura freaking out about Tsunade's temper, while Naruto was talking trash. XD

Anyways... plenty of humor. Just not at this very moment. And for good reason.

    Edit:

Oh, I almost forgot! The infamous art debate between Sasori and Deidara. XD That part was *hilarious.*

Plus, I thought Deidara's "Art is a bang!" and "That's it, I'm going to blow up this town" were pretty funny... in a sick way, I guess.

    Lets not forget the

Itachi - "He is the one that will start shouting at you first thing."
Sasori - "Eh? What's that mean?"
Deidara - "Got anything more specific...? Hmm?"
    *Itachi disappears*
    Sasori - "Tch...
    *Later on*"
Deidara - "I wonder which one's the Jinchuuriki...? Hmm."
Naruto - "You bastards! I'll crush you!!"
    Sasori - "That one...?
Deidara - "Sure looks that way doesn't it?...hmm."

LOL! I forgot about that one too! I loved how Itachi found a way to get at Sasori and still follow the leader's order. Just as funny: Naruto does exactly what Itachi said he would! XD

If they're still on fillers in the anime, don't you begin to wonder if there actually will be a part 2:tem ?

DBZ ended in fillers didn't it? Naruto aspired to be like DBZ and they just might get their wish:)

Kishi needs to start skillfully inserting humor again though. Some of the other serious mangas manage to do it and remain dark, why can't he?

Ok, you need to read chapter 245 itself and witness the pure brilliance of the return of Konohamaru. The humor of that one scene overflows to where we are still.

It's still got humor. It's just that this fight has been drawn out pretty long. There usually aren't too many chances for humor during those... hehe, unless Gai's in there though.:p

I disagree... childhood is gone, innocence goes away fast for a Ninja. Im glad the tone is darker... it reflects how the kids are forced to grow up.

The humour in this series is more subtle these days. But Gaara recently died, you know? He's a popular character, so the authour is treating it seriously.

So you're saying grown ups can't have humor too?

Even Death note has humor in it and that's about as dark as it gets.

Kishi can and should do it.

(Beginning of) part 1: overall light-hearted (Hokage! Yeah!) with dark moments.

Part two: overall dark, with occasional bits of humour. :oh
