They are all mainstream, and all they care about is being exposed to mainstream thus selling. They make hot hits, not hot lyrics except luda is decently lyrical, but I'd prefer T.I over him anyday.

    My top 5.
    1-nas-ILLMATIC BABY
    2-DMX
    3-jay-z
    4-Canibus
    5-tupac

Sorry no eminem, brilliant lyrics but I can't stand his voice so I don't listen to him, as well as Encore sucked.

    Luda- mediocre
Snoop- used to be good but fell off a while ago
Nelly- he's fun to listen to if you want to be all happy time fun music
Usher- he's an RnB singer I don't like much RnB
Puff Daddy- He can't even be considered a rapper he is the pinicle of all suckity. Plus I bet he's the one who killed Big so fuck p diddy and his lame no skill at all in rapping ass.

Yeah those 5 aren't listed anywhere near the top in my books. And Catatonik is the only person i've seen so far who mentioned Last Emperor(who is really good) :)

As for a top five I can't make one...but it sure aint what you got there...Nelly :oh. But I guess to each his own..or her own for that matter.

Ludacris- I liked the song, "Stand Up" but that's it... he. is. OKAY.
Snoop- His voice is smooth.. but when he does a song.. it's .. more like he's just talking.. and.. well i don't know rapp..--nevermind.
Nelly- His songs ALMOST make no sense! If it gets hot you don't impulsively start to strip let alone someone telling you to. MAKE'S NO SENSE!!
Usher- I like his songs in his early years than his songs now, overplayed. and he can't dance THAT good. He tries to hard.. to what I think.
P.Diddy- Obsessions is good to hear. It isn't about banging girls or anything.

I won't start a fight, but IMO ,very important, Usher and Nelly are two of the worst things to happen to the music industry alongside Brtiny Spears, and Jessica Simpson.

    Note, the above is IMO.

    ^ Agrees.
The hip-hop and rap nowadays is just ..mainstream-pop. With less 'singing' and heavyer beats.

actually i'm not a fan of raps.
but at least 50 cent is not included in the list because almost all of his music videos degrades women.

Thanks moe...hehe, my top five is actually six. :D

I used to fall under the 'All rap sucks' thought, but deep investigation provided me with some really cool artists/groups, and I include in that selection

    The Sweatshop Union
    Jurassic 5
    Zack De Larocha
    Deltron 3030
    Dilated Peoples
    The Pharcyde

For a dyed in the wool metalhead, I consider a list of hip-hop performers that long an accomplishment (this list includes the previous 6 I already mentioned)

yeah... judging from the conversation here, and the mention of usher -- I thought I'd pipe in and say that people are getting sick of the same old rock/hip-hop/r&b bullsh*t..... and there is just this big upsurge from a new style coming out of Europe -- it's pretty easy to find, just put 'euro club hits' into itunes or check this link: Link removed

    Ad Bot much?

Seriously, why make statements about "same old" when you're doing an add for a bunch of groups and "DJs" who just play the same song over and over and give the song a new name?

And Ludacris is a guilty pleasure of mine, I admit it.

Chicken & Beer was a delightful album. :C

Ludacris is good in my books, I enjoy his stuff, though I don't listen to it much. I prefer him as an actor.
