Maybe HxH would surprise you and remain only at a slim 6 votes distance. :p

Well, I don't think we've ever managed to get more than 80 votes...

Anyway, a loss is a loss; I guess we'll go (well, we'll have to now, won't we :oh) for the February one. And congrats to BotI. I only had a cursory look at it, maybe I should read it more seriously if it's deemed that good. :amuse

Btw; doesn't seem a whole year a bit long before a manga can be voted Motm again?

Even with that rule in place, we still get repeat winners the moment the 12 month period has expired.

Blade of the Immortal is the only one I've read so far manga wise. Watched Soul Eater never got into it

I planned to just ignore you but this is just so fucking stupid. I told you we're voting for the motm here, that's the ultimate thing that matters. Any sentimentality you associate with this is not essential to the voting process. What's so hard to understand about that?

So why did I vote for HxH? Because I like HxH and would like to vote for it as much as possible. But I recognize that it's not ultimately solely about my preference, but about the MOTM (which is at stake in the first place); i.e., that there are situations where I would not allow me to vote for HxH. Since BOTI leads by a mile and my vote would no longer change anything, then I thought I could afford to be sentimental and all that shit and vote for HxH. But if the votes were close, rest assured I would've cast my vote on BOTI.

    Now, just shut up. Seriously.

    oh thanks :ohpek

    oh yeah :notrust

What are you talking about :argh you just voted for hxh this month

You always say that, but you never keep your promise and always react anyway. :notrust

    Or should that be :nod

It's strange you refute the 'sentimentality' of a fan voting for his preferred manga (which, frankly, only seems the most logical behaviour anyway, unless you have ulterior motives), but refute the logic when you strictly go by analysing the chances we got WITHOUT any sentiments in it.

"I did not vote HxH to be Motm, because it's not about my preference, it's about the Motm."

    WTF? :sclap

And there we have the contradiction in a nutshell. You like to vote for it as much as possible, and yet you don't if BoiT wouldn't win. That's what you're actually saying, you know. You act as if you went against your principles or your own wish 'for the greater good'. Only there is no 'greater good'; the Motm isn't the greater good, because it's EXACTLY for the Motm that each individual is voting for. And OF COURSE, in that case it's about your (the individuals') preference!! The 'greater good' is not 'letting BotI win', afterall! Unless you deem BotI deserved it more, which is what I already said would be reasonable in my former post.

What you say just doesn't make much sense, unless you had made some underhanded deals in front and were bound to those agreements. But those 'deals under the table" do not make for fair voting. If I would put it in an analogy of voting for a party, you are saying something like: "I want to vote as much as possible for the liberals, but I realise it's not about my preference, it's about the elections (which is at stake in the first place)."

Now, do you see how ridiculous this sounds? It completely makes no sense whatsoever. Voting is always about having a preference for a party (or a manga) if the choice of the vote is to decide which party (or manga) will win for a given timeperiod. So your first premise is already dead wrong as an argument. Furthermore, it DOES NOT mean 'the Motm is at stake' as something that stands on itself, just as the elections are not at stake if you vote for the liberals. That too, is nonsensical. What IS at stake, is WHICH manga gets the Motm (just as which party will get the upperhand in the elections). And then it boils down to what I said from the start: if you thought HxH deserved the Motm you should have voted on it from the start, if you didn't, then it means you thought it didn't deserve it; that's actually quite simple to understand! Saying: oh, I'm all for the liberals, but I didn't vote until I was sure they couldn't possibly win from the socialists anymore anyway - is just hypocritical lipservice for letting you feel good about having voted for the liberals. It's quite obvious that if somebody withholds his vote until he's sure his party will lose, he isn't really much of a liberal or has any love for the party.

The day you start saying something sensible and logical again, I won't feel the need to point the illogic out! :zaru

Now, you're just trying to justify it by argumenting, while your arguments are plain and simple making head nor tail. If you just had said: I didn't vote for it because I just didn't feel like it and I know that I'm being irrational about it, or had made some behind-the-door-deals with other groups, etc. I wouldn't have had as much problems with it. But now you're trying to justify your actions with arguments that are completely nonsensical.

    :grin

Well, it seems it does have its use after all, then, even if the ultimate goal of having people think and reason more logically isn't attained yet! :amuse

Exactly, and just because you would be able to say such a thing, you casted your vote at the last minute when you knew it didn't matter anymore. Your action doesn't make sense on a sentimental level (otherwise you would have voted from the start), and it didn't make sense on a rational level (otherwise you would have stayed with your decision, if it was based on logic - which, granted, wasn't the case).

I wouldn't have put it beyond you to actually vote for BotI if the manga's had stood equal, just so your back-door-deals with whatever group you've made them would go through. And if you didn't make any deals, there is not even a reason whatsoever. You didn't care about the sentiment, nor the logic: you just didn't care about the Motm, as you've said more or less before yourself, in a former post.

And then you're complaining that people aren't active enough in the Motm...bleh. Maybe it's because it's full of people that didn't care about the Motm in the first place, but did get which month they got it? :oh

If we're not getting the February one, I'm seriously going to GWoT you every day of the week. ;33

Getting Psyren and Beelzebub in the same month kind of threw off my gameplan. I'm not sure what I want next month. I'd like No Bra to win, but I realize the chances of that are very low (non-existent). I could just nominate Dr. Rurru and Ikigami again, but they are really to new to merit consideration. When is Berserk eligible again?

    Hunter x Hunter for February.

Have pity on us, the manga may be back to hiatus mid-March (or even earlier :cry) Berserk, Soul Eater or Claymore can get it any other time instead.

Lol @Berserk. Good luck with your 5 chapters a year (if you're lucky).
