Hum... This doesn't seem like a megalodon... More like a Basking shark...

They are not that dangerous, they eat plancton mainly. You can only get gulped by accident, and he'd spit you out anyway.

Though, if Megalodons were still around... Documentaries would be awesome !

Well, what a bashing shark then ?

It's not a great white, and it's not big enough to be a megalodon, whose existence in our days is still not confirmed. Maybe it's a small one, but I doubt it's a megalodon. This is the size of an adult megalodon.

    here.

Not quite the right shape/design of a Megalodon.

But still, I would not want that swimming anywhere near me.

I kinda wish Megalodons were still alive, that'd be coool... if a bit terrifying :p

While not a Megalodon, it's still interesting nonetheless. It looks similar to the giant on this video. My japanese friend confirmed that the show does say it's 10 meters. Definitely not something I'd want to meet in the water.

Not sure if it's a basking shark and it sure isn't a megalodon. However don't see any teeth on it which makes it more likely to be a basking shark. (And basking sharks can be huge), any possibility of it being a whale shark? I know it's too small but maybe its a dwarf one :D

The shark in the video I posted is probably not a basking shark. It was attracted to the area by the bait, which doesn't make sense for a filter feeder. Physically it differs in that its snout doesn't taper. Finally, the shark in the video has short and rounded fins in contrast to the long and pointed fins that basking sharks possess. I think the 10 meter scavenger might be an entirely new species.

Some of you guys don't know your marine biology. That's a basking shark, a small one at that too. Whale Sharks are huge. They're about the same size as a Megalodon if they still existed , but slightly smaller. Basking shark and Whale Shark are harmless. They don't attack people. Think of a Basking Shark as a ugly whale.

As for the Megalodon, if they still existed, I don't think anyone would go to the ocean on a small boat.

A Megalodon is bigger, I believe.

    Something to note,

If the megaldon survived to today evolution would have more then likely made it smaller and probably changed it in other ways as well. So just because it's not the same size isn't neccassairly a probelm though I suppose techinically then it's still not a megaldon but a desendant of one.

The size of Megalodon was influenced by its prey aka "WHALES."

A small shark will never attack a Whale. However Megalodon regularly attacked them.

And Basking shark is not a relative of Megalodon. These two are entirely different species of sharks with different lineages.

The closest living relative of Megalodon is Great White Shark.
