I certainly think it is.
This, and leaving Vivi behind.
In my opinion, this moment and the fight between Usopp and Luffy are the most emotional.
Hmm... Yeah probably. It's tough deciding between this and Luffy Vs. Usopp for me...
My vote goes for this chapter. I read the chapter twice, and it was just depressing that I ended up crying about it. The deal with Vivi was inevitable because she can't leave her country especially after how much work it needs. I had not grown attached to her as I had with the Going Meri. The fight between Ussop and Luffy, I basically knew it wasn't the end and that Ussop would return.
This was truly the end for the Going Meri, the ship that loved its crew and went above and beyond its limits. It was...a happy ship. *sniff* :'(
Today, I walked outside and a boat was sitting there for me.
So I decided to get on it, and sail around.
I looked to my right and left and I was glad
Because all of my friends were together with me on that ship.
I stood up front, like a man should,
And you never complained.
You always simply smiled and watched onward with those same eyes
Watching out for danger and steering us for hapiness.
All of my friends had goals, and I would have never gotten this far.
Because I'm sure we would have been caught in the tidal waves
And we would have been trapped in the whirlpools
If you haven't of been there to pull us out.
Sure, you've been beaten up along the way.
You've gotten bruises and scars just like we have
But we helped you along because you are one of us.
We patched up your wounds and helped heal all of your scars,
Becuase we're not going to let a friend go.
I still remember what you said to me,
"I will take you until I can no longer move."
And you did what you promised, and we all loved you for that.
Your prime came quickly in my eyes, even if it had been a long while
You took your last plunge for all of us,
You pulled us out of the gutter one final time
And when we finally got back to shore,
We smiled up at you one last time as we said goodbye,
And you looked back down at us, smiling with that same face we all love.
We all thank you for helping us along,
Are eyes were full of tears as you were covered in smoke,
But even as the fire plunged across you, you didn't stop smiling
And up to the very end, you kept us grinning,
Becuase you gave us the hope that something was still ahead,
Something we should keep fighting for,
And you kept one thing drilled in our head,
One thing that's impossible to forget, no matter how hard we try:
"With a ship like you, we were all going merry."
Before wa Robin's past, now this has rose to the occasion
I also think this may be the most emotional moment. I cried a lot for this chapter. The only thing that could compete was the Luffy vs Usopp part. However, I think I cried harder for this since we'll probably never see Merry again, and for the Luffy vs. Usopp I knew he wouldn't be gone for good.
Honestly, when reading manga, I have never felt any strong emotions.
Watching anime always got me feeling teary eye'd. The biggest examples of this are:
Kannazuki no Miko
And this chapter got me up to that level of teary-eye'd. That's how amazing it was.
Yes ... this is one of the saddest part in One Piece imo T.T
Sniff, I cried my eyes out... so sad to see going merry leave forever. But she'll stay in our hearts forever!
So will the crew get a new ship? ... >.<
It's tied with Bellemere I think, for me.
nope cuz it died.. "twice"
Ussop fighting Luffy has to be it for me.
Many other series that I have read can only at the very most got me goosebumps and touched.. One Piece is the serie that has the most of that moment for me... and so far before this chapter... the emotional feeling has never been this huge for me.. I cried my eyes out like a baby.. (I'm a male btw)...
Hence.. it shows how truly and very emotional this chapter is...
This is the most emotional chapter for me..
Actually, I think Robin's past may almost tie with this for me.
I'm not sure if it's this or Chopper's past, which I thought was much, much more emotional than Robin's.
Having all the crew stand there crying and watch their ship burn out in the snow? Most definately.
I think the fact that Merry actually "spoke" to them before it bit the dust was what pushed it over the edge for me.
You still doubt it??
that aside, yes. it was the most emotional chapter in one piece till now... Specially when listening to Caravel Farewell
For those who don't know it it's a Going Merry song
Heck i look like a kid in my office hearing that song and having some unshed tears
After that, I'd have to say it's Robin past, and in third place Luffy and Ussop fight.
This might be a stupid question, but did you make that up yourself?
Going Merry you will be missed!
Yeah, I did. ^_^
I basically made it up on the spot right after I looked at the RAW. ^_^
I love it, very nice. ^_^ +rep.
I'm even more emotional now after reading that poem very nice
Heheh, I thank both of you. After I looked at the RAW, I knew I had to do something in memory of Merry. So I wrote a poem.
This is the first time I was really teary-eyed from manga, even maybe anime...
Am I the only one who thought when Doctorine light the sakura medicine was super super sad?
Chopper's past was sad, but I have to say this is more sadder.
I can't wait to see this animated... I wonder who will do Merry's voice...
I dunno, the same one who did the klabauterman maybe
