This is what I said to my mum when I messed up my first year of college.

If I had worked hard for my exams and passed all of them but died early all of my hard work would have been for nothing.
If I do live for a long time then I will have a lot more time to spend on my studies and ae some money.
Therefore it doesn't matter if I fail my exams now or the next time because I either die(and I won't need the grades) or I can do them again later and still make more money then If I had died early with some kind of qualification.

I know this is a little random but what do you guys think of my little thought on life.

What if you had not worked hard and died young?

Your life was just a waste of space.

Ultimately everybody's lives are a waste of space.
It's up to you to put meaning and goals into your life.

What I'm trying to say is if you die young you don't need the grades but if you don't die young you can et the grades later and still make something out of your life.

Actually your Idea is pretty reasonable, but your twisting it with your laziness. If you rush at things with vigor you'll eventual tire out and there'll still be things that need to be done. Pacing your self is a good way to start university set reasonable goals (first year I'll survive, second year I'll make it on the deans list, third year I'll start building credentials and extra credit, fourth year I'll graduate maybe first or second class) but to use that as an excuse to slack off is bad. but hell it's your first year , you can still make it up.

It seems that with this reasoning you could just keep pushing it off because you could always die soon.

Personally I'm trying to rush at college right now because after I get my two year degree I'm planning on a double major. So I want to try graduating close to the normal 4 years.

    Wrong.

The most effective strategy, is to find the minimum amount of work necessary to graduate, do exactly what you need, and spend the rest of the time on drinking and sleeping.

It's all about efficiency and rational planning. <3

That logic pretty much leads eventually to just "do whatever the hell you want for a day then kill yourself tomorrow". You never know when you're going to die, but the tradeoff of failing now because of the potential to die soon really isn't worth it. You're shooting yourself in the foot for no good reason. You're getting a really minor short term benefit for a long term cost.

If you put your studies off until later, your chances of dying of old age or some other problem increases and it would become more likely you die right after or near the end of your studies making it useless. In fact, no matter when you study, the same scenario of dying right after exists, the only difference is that by putting off that studying until later while in school is costing a hell of a lot more money that you might as well drop out for now, and from that it's obvious that you're not going to be able to live the same lifestyle as if you actually worked your ass off now, got your degree, got out of college and got a college graduate salary unless you're bumming off your parents or their inheritance.

Furthermore, at the current time, failing your exams now would mean more time in school, which would mean you'd be costing someone money(because I get the feeling that you're not paying for your tuition, whether your family paying or some free college somewhere with the government paying, otherwise you'd realize that you're working 40-80 some odd hours a week with most of it going to waste on a failing education) and not making much on your own.

Frankly, it's probably the worst attempt at a logical excuse I've heard

When people die, they don't regret all the things theyve done.
What they regret are all the things they haven't done.

Interpret that anyway you want to.

You're more likely to succeed before you're dead if you work hard now.

What you put off till later might never be. Hard work isn't for nothing, and btw you don't live forever, foolish mortalll xD

As you go on with life it might get harder to go back and do things like this, if you have to do it now you might as well give it your all.

    1) What makes you think you may die young? It's like saying you don't need the money if the world ends in a couple of minutes. Then give me all your money. :oh

    2) If you can't work hard right now, you can't work hard later. It's just an excuse you give to yourself.

    Two words: Grow up.

It may factor into your GPA... and you can't stay in the same place if you flunk out. haha

What's this with dieing young? It's ridiculously hypothetical.
Like, umm, I could suddenly feel like eeeh, gitin a lottery ticket and winning all dat money and it would't matter so much urr.....ya'know?

Well, if you party all the time instead of studying, you can probably die from alcohol poisoning... That's how I understood this "dying young" thing anyway.

LOL you sound like me, except you're trying to make up a reason for you being lazy and I ain't failed.

You ought to just study hard and get the best grades you can, that way more options open to you, and your point about dieing early is among the most ridiculous things i've ever read and i'm tempted to neg rep you for it.
