Sadly, no. You'd need a Japanese Gamecube.

i think that the ps2 can play the Naruto NH series out of the bos, but in my opinion the Naruto GNT for gamecue is better

You'll need a MOD Chip or a Swap-Magic Disc to play Japanese games on an American PS2. For the Gamecube, all you need is a disc called Freeloader to play imports.

Nope, NH games require some sort of adaptation of the PS2 in order to play Japanese games as well. Both gamecube and PS2 are region-encoded so that they can only play games of their region.

Gamecube is easiest to work around - all you need is Datel's freeloader or Action Replay in order to play.

PS2 requires modifications to your console in order to play Japanese games, from what I remember.

ok well i only play GNT because i find that NH is only for the specials, whereas GNT has better gameplay

it is not hard to get the ps2 to play out of the region games. i have Narutimate Hero 3 and i bought a flip top lid, now let me tell you i did not know how it worked or anything all i knew was my cousin had one for his burned games and he told me it could play out of region games so i got. when i installed the fliptop lid i didn't even read the instructions because all you need to do is unscrew the 6 screws on the bottom of your ps2 so the top comes off and then you take the flip top lid and just put it on and rescrew in the screws. it only costs $30 for the flip top lid and get the swap magic, and i highly reccomend getting NH3 over GNT because i have played both and GNT gets boring after awhile since it is the same thing, and NH3 is basically like super smash bros but with only 2 players.

    for gamecube:
    buy freeloader.
insert into gamecube, remove, insert japanese game

    for ps2
buy flip top + swap magic disks.
replace ps2 lid with flip top
insert swap magic dvd into ps2, take out, and put japanese game in.
    and you are set.

As I said, modifications to the PS2. :3

I think I'll stick with the gamecube. Depending on how the PS3 deals with import PS2 disks, I'll wait until that's confirmed, and then buy the PS2 games. XD
