    He needs to stay away from politics. He cannot deliver a coherent left wing message no matter how hard he is trying.

    Just do straight action or some art house weirdness.

    I'm actually one of the only people on the planet who wasn't really all that impressed with "District 9"...yet ended up really liking "Elysium"?

    Either way, I think he's an interesting choice for this project. Even though I think "District 9" was overrated, I won't deny that it was unorthodox and he accomplished a lot with limited resources. He's not really a safe choice, but he's also not out of his element either. I just hope he doesn't rely too much on nostalgia and I REALLY hope the studio doesn't hassle him. José Padilha was also an interesting choice, but his 2014 "Robocop" movie was so bland I...seriously can't remember a damn thing that happened in it...I think Samuel Jackson was there? Anyway, it was common knowledge that Padilha had difficulties with the studio, so hopefully that doesn't happen again.

    The age of undead franchises continues.

    In b4 they remake Citizen Kane.

    Sorry, but what kind of name is "Blomkamp" anyway?

    In Swedish:

    Blomma = flower (c.f. "blossom")
    Kamp = struggle/battle (c.f. "compete")

    So Blomkamp = "Fighting Flowers"?

    I'll bet $10 it's Dutch, 'cuz they always have the weirdest Germanic names. I'm convinced Willy Wonka is Dutch.

    He's of Dutch descent as he is an Afrikaaner.

    But maybe he's actually Let's Fighting Love!!! on here as a play on his real name.

    It definitely sounds like it. The OG script was written after Platoon so it'd have to be. Also the mention of Peter Weller makes it sound like it's sequel of sorts to the 80s Robocop.

    I wonder if they're going to ignore Robocop 2 and 3 if that's the case.

    I'm cautiously optimistic, I liked Elysium but holy FUCK Chappie was rough as hell. The Alien movie concept by Blomkamp sounded interesting at the very least, and I'm glad Blomkamp still has a job in Hollywood despite his few bumps in the road.

    That being said Verhoeven's style was all over Robocop, I wonder if they'll try to replicate it or do their own thing. Would it even be a Robocop movie without tongue-in-cheek satire?
