    Hi Everybody

I was just wondering if ninjas really exist. I know they don't exist in the way they are represented in Naruto, but do they exist in real life? And where?

I believe they still exist. But I guess they're art is long gone, that a sniper rifle will be best for assasination.

Ninja's went the way of the Samurai.

however, I'm sure there exist people today who carry out similar missions that a ninja of long ago would have. Assasinations, escorts, etc. Only difference is that it is more technologically advanced, and hopping from tree to tree is no longer needed.

The art is still in existence.

Sensei Toshitsugu Takamatsu, "The last living true Ninja" died on 2nd April 1972.

His successor is Grandmaster Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi inherited the 9 Ninjutsu Traditions and is the founder of the Bujinkan Dojo.

ninjas don't exists anymore. But the Way of the ninja is still practised. E.g, asassins learn the way of the ninja, stealth, and they add modern technology to it. Perfect exaple would be Snake from Metal Gear solid.

    Yup!

Yeah the closest things we have today to real ninjas are Hitmen and Special Forces.

But of course ppl still can learn the way of the ninja im sure there are some schools out there.

Yeah there are actually a lot of schools out there that teach their martial art discipline, but as for an occupation, hell no. The purpose of ninjas died out after the meji era began.

Modern special operations forces have pretty much replaced ninja's. But there are those who still practice the old teachings of Ninja's as more of a spiritual venture then anything. Like those who still practice Kendo.

i dont think that the art of the real ninjas that existed ages ago would be as fascinating as in these exaggerated, and often unrealistic but fanciful, ninja animes. but yeah... ninjas did exist a long time ago, however, the remnants of their basic discipline still lives on today..(i think)

Ninjas are like undercover spies or assassins.

I would not be surprised if ninjas still roamed. Ninja spy tactics would still be effective in this day and age. Give a ninja some e.m.p. and they would be invincible.

Ninjas do exist~! They do! ^_^ I keep having this debate with my brother....
Well, ninjas do exist, but they're hidden somewhere of course. But, today there's advanced technology, and with that, ninjas have disadvantages. Like stealth radar (a friend told me this) Ninja can get captured more easily...

What mean their ninja art is long gone?! Ninjas had the most advanced strategies of their time period!! Real ninjas lived in a world where it was thought that proper warfare was meant to be face to face and to the death. What the ninjas were doing was down-right radical.

Taking everyday objects and modifying them into weapons. That's was a ninja strategy!

Disguising yourselves as someone the enemy would expect in thier presence thus keeping the enemy's guard down. That's was a ninja strategy!

Training underprivileged people to go on missions for them. That's was a ninja strategy!

Running away from a confrontation when you have the information you need. That's was a ninja strategy!

These strategies are basics of warfare today so don't tell me ninja art is long gone.

I have to agree that the modern equivalent today are commandos.

Centuries ago Ninjas were far beyond their time.

If you've read Sun Tzu's Art of War

Ninjas are perfect for breaking resistance without going to full-scale war.

The basic concepts and ideas that ninjas used are still valid and in use in different fields of espionage and assaination, but actual ninjas would be a rare breed nowadays. So while real ninjas aren't at our dispoasal anymore, most of the tactics and skills emplyed by them are still alive and well. That's impressive considering how old actual ninja technique is.

I think they existed before, maybe when there was still the samurai or earlier than samurais. But now, it's better to kill someone with a gun rather than a kunai, eh?
