Rewatched the entire Digimon franchise last summer, seeing the last 3/4 seasons for the first time. Appmonsters is legit top 3 in the franchise. If you didn't watch it you're missing out.

The ending to episode 6 was so fucking good. It felt so somber and melancholic with the soothing vocals singing about goodbyes and the quiet and earnest moments between the pilots. Yet it also felt big and grand and larger than life - look at the giant sweeping shots of the Quarter leaving the port and how far poor Ranka has to run to get to the concert. And when she gets there, she looks up above and beyond into the stars, and there is a warp hole in space being opened up for the fighters to enter to battle for everyone's survival. And just like that, the chorus hits and we're into the regular ending visuals.

Fuck that was great. Really moved me when I saw it way back when. It made what happened in 7 that much better. The first seven episodes as a whole were a definite highpoint of my early anime watching days.
